I collect books...if I enjoyed reading it, there's no way I'll sell it. In my defense, I do often re-read things, lol.
I collect some fantasy and SF memorabilia, but it's a bit random. Dragon figurines, a Dune Sandworm, etc. I collect some wolf stuff. I have some signed stills from SF conventions--Star Trek, Star Wars, etc.
Plushy Cthulhu is on my Kaboodle 'want' list.

I decided to spend 5 years or so collecting as many as I can and from different brands, different colored tops and different designs. Once I figure out what I have, the fun will really begin... Well, not that emptying all the bottles hasn't been fun... lol

I got it from a fossil dealer about 15 years ago. What I really wanted at the time was about 3 feet of a wooly mamoth tusk but it was 10,000. So I opted for the Rex tooth. Glad I did. It's still my favorite.

unfortunately there's no way to tell the gender. The t Rex was 10 to 15 feet tall 45 feet long and weighed approximately 14,000 pounds. imagine the size of those eggs.ha ha

NASCAR isnt nerdy... It just means youre a redneck lmao. jk jk
Who do you root for in NASCAR?
I have a coworker who roots for whoever is driving the #2 car lol
-
Well... I guess it's not really collecting, but I have a strange fascination with just... things. I don't know what they all have in common though. As in I have bought things like a pack of a ketchup and mustard bottles, this package of super small containers that would maybe hold a small handful of M&Ms, and I also like to "save" the little containers the mealworms come in when I get them at the store (little clear deli cups). And deli cups, I have this amazing fascination with deli cups.
Hmm... egg cartons. Not as fascinated by them but more I keep them for the fact that I use them for crickets and mealworm beetles (they're fun to breed).
Umm... miniature tea sets :) lol
I'm just weird. But I think it keeps my parents laughing so I'm ok with it!

I too collect NASCAR, and Stewert is one of my faves. Also Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex JR. I like diecast but I only have one its from I believe 2003 when Dale JR drove the Staind sponsored Bud True Music car in the Rock and Roll 500. It took me 5 years to get a hold of it. the value is pretty much still the same as to when I got it $80 but then I got it signed by Dale at Texas Motor Speedway, and it doubled. I also collect hats from drivers. I have over 100 hats, even from drivers that I don't care for, such as Kyle Bush and Matt Kenseth. However my most favorite two things from my NASCAR collection is my Robbie Gordan signed Monster Can and Monster hat. I love Monster and this was just the coolest.
I also collect indy music, I love a lot of bands that are just not played on the radio. stuff like Project 86, write this down, A Day To Remember, Silverstein, Children 18:3, Oh Sleeper, MxPx, I the Breather, I am Empire, Norma Jean, attack! Attack!, Abandon All Ships, A Skylit Drive, We Came As Romans, Our Last Night, Fit Rivals, Corpus Christi, Sleeping With Sirens, Showbread, and Wolves At The Gate... I also have a lot of collection that are spec releases, normally comes with with a DVD, and if they have a live filming I have it, I have been able to find fully pro filmed Concerts of A Day To Remember and As I Lay Dying on youtube. That was awsome

I skateboard so I've been through toooooooonnnnsss off skateshoes....plus I wear on my feet bad just walking so I go through shoes like that! I tend to wear skate shoes everywhere though and I fell in love with Nike 6.0 when they first came out with that line, I instantly bought a pair and they last far longer than any other skate shoe I had, for example Supra brand shoes are supposed to be the best because chad muska rocks them so I got a pair for $140....after two weeks I had tore through the soles......so I stick to nike now. My last pair my gf got me for xmas were $60 I belive....but those are "dress" ones haha so I need new skate shoes before I hit up Florida in june and shred up the pavement down there!

I dont skate, but Im a huge fan of 6.0s too. I just love the style of skate shoes so thats what i tend to wear. I bought a pair in freshman year of highschool and they lasted me all four years. i just recently, within the past year, decided to get rid of them. I figured i paid like $40 for them and they lasted a good 4-5 years so i got my moneys worth outta them. In that timespan i went through plenty of other pairs of shoes too, but they simply didnt wear out lol. Vans, DCs, Etnies, Supras, Osiris... they just dont compare to Nikes imo

Thanks. By the way that Darth maul head you see is life size and made out of Legos (I'm sure you can tell that). It took me a week to put together. I bought it from Legoland in Disney (FL) and got just past the mouth only to realize I was using the wrong peices and had to take it apart and start over.

Mike if you get a chance or are watching the Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network, I HIGHLY recommend it. Darth Maul is back and he is Pee O'd big time. It's a really awesome show and I'm at a loss now because Maul's return was the end of this season and now I have to wait.

I collect authentic samurai swords(my most expensive hobby)buddha statutes(have to many to count) and crystal skulls(most folks when they come to my house and see shelves of skulls get the wrong impression of me:D)

Re: What do you collect???
Another thing I collect is Chuck Taylors. I have a lot of band chuck Pink Floyd, The Who, Nirvana, Ozzy, Metallica (even though I hate them, the in justice for all shoes just look amazing), queen, Green Day, and the Romones. I also have different color chucks, Red on black (color on color... the first color is the canvas top and the second color is the rubber) Black on Red, Grey on white, grey on black, Black on Coffee, black on green, green on black, purple on black, blue on white, blue on black, black on blue. and then I have doubles ( looks like two shoes in one. I have about a $4000 collect of chucks.
-
GREAT.... my post didn't get posted... THANK YOU INTERNET PROVIDER....
Here it goes again (what I can remember of it):
Throughout my still short life, I have collected lots of crap, most of them still laying around somewhere in my house. The numbers beside the Collection is a guesstimate of my age when I did such collection. Collections that I actively keep up to this day are in BOLD:
- Pokemón Cards [8-11] (Only the first 3 sets, Basic, Jungle and Fossil)
- Marbles [10-11] (Not a huge one, just decent)
- Minerals/Precious stones/Fossils [6-13] (When I was a kid, I wanted to be a Paleontologist and a Geologist, so, I decided to start collecting Fossils, minerals, Precious Stones/Metals, Gems, Natural Crystals, etc... Not to brag, but that was quite a collection for a kid of my age, it's kinda eye-opening. Hell, there are even Sapphires, Rubies and Emeralds, and many other precious stones in there)
- Hot Wheels [7-10] (again, not a big deal, only like 150-200 cars in there, which is nothing if you comprare to hardcore HOTWHEEL collectors)
- Tuner Car Models [13-16] (I don't know what was passing through my mind at that moment, but meeeeeeeh. About the collection, it's just a small one, around 8 cars, but I consider it a collection because I carefully placed each model inside 'glass' display boxes)
- HardRock Café Guitar Pins [17- now (21)] (Everytime I went to a HRC, I bought a Guitar Pin, so I decided to make it a Collection. Now I try not to have any country duplicates (although there are some), and I also try to get only 1 per state)
- USA Coinage (Coins and Paper Money) [8- now (21)] (Started just collecting Bicentennial coins and pre-64 Silver Coins, then passed to the States Quarters, and now I collect pretty much everything USA Coinage Related (although I must admit I have been REAL lazy and rusty these couple of years, haven't done any of the new sets. I'm mainly focusing on finishing older coin collections like Morgans, Peace, Standing Liberty, blah blah). Lots of interesting US bills here too: $500 bill, confederate bills, Silver and Gold certificates, 1st run of standard sized Bills, etc.. Again, not to brag, but this is a pretty big and time/money consuming collection, I could say I have spent EASILY 5k from MY pocket on this)
- World Paper Money [14- now (21)] (Another Eye-Opener. I got most of my collection as a Trade I did with my uncle. My grandfather had given me a 10th to 15th century Spain Coinage Collection just for kicks (yes, Numismatics is pretty big in my family) and my uncle had wanted that collection for years, so he gave me his HUGE World paper money collection for the Spanish coins. What can I say, I have bills from Countries that no longer exist, bills that are 'illegal' (governments had them destroyed due to political changes and stuff). One bill that I find intriguing is an older one from russia that is almost as big as a standard paper... I wonder how the hell people carried that without folding them. Of course, everytime me or my brother (who travels A LOT, like 6-8 times a year) travel/s, I/he bring/s foreign currencies, and If it's duplicated, off to local auctions or feebay)
- Guitar Picks [17- now (21)] (Since I started playing, I have loved picks, and I have saved 1 from every different variation I have bought (not fair, last time I bought picks I bought a 144 pack, which was like 3 years ago, and I still have over half of them left). However, I also collect Artist Picks, and I have from: Metallica, Lamb of God (used by Willie himself <3), Korn, Zakk Wylde, Kirk Hammett, and others I can't remember )
I'd love to count all my guitars as a collection, but since I flip most of them so much, I guess it's not a valid collection.
I'm pretty sure that I'm missing some collections, but oh well. I'll gladly take some pictures if anyone is interested :D
And yes, I know I suck I didn't have a social life, up until like 3 years ago :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I have a friend who is a music snob. Apparently the hip thing to do is dislike Metallica, much like its hip to dislike nickleback.
Personally I like them both.

Im pretty sure youre not, but you cant compare metallica to nickelback lol...
I like nickelbacks early stuff, like silver side up, but nowadays theyre too mainstream and some of their songs sound like country (which is prolly why you like them lol). When my friends moms start going to nickelback concerts, i can no longer like them, im sorry but i have to draw the line lol. Then when you play an early one of their songs for them theyre like "omg whose that, they suck!" So now ive just adopted the mentality that i hate nickelback bc if i say that i like them then theyll think im talking about the new nickelback, not the old nickelback. Its sad that they changed so much, i really liked Chads voice and the rawness it had...

Hey now! Everyone is entitled to hate whatever they want.
Metallica was my favorite band for over 10 years, but right I pretty much don't care about them. I just like their first 4 albums as of now. And you can't dent the fact that Metallica sold out a bunch of years ago

This is a neat thread to have resurfaced.
My main collection is vintage computers, primarily apple.
Some of my computer stuff:
Apple Lisa 2, a TRS Model-100, a Macintosh Television, Performa 200, Woz Apple 2GS, various compact macs, a pair of (currently non-functional) Macintosh Portables, old PowerBooks, the colored iBooks, and some iPod stuff and a Newton.
