I don't comment on these much, Wayne, but I never get tired of looking at them and watching how they're growing! And my goodness, but they're growing FAST! I sincerely believe that the work you're doing with these two and the incredible way you're documenting the whole journey, will have a huge, positive impact on the future lives of many, many Savannah monitors.

I must agree with Judy. I've been following the progress of Littlefoot and Cera on this and another site since you posted this thread. I've been reading about monitors for awhile now, and have been trying to prepare myself for when I choose to pick one up.

Thank you for doing so well on documenting the journey of these monitors. Not only are the pictures a pleasant way to pass the time, but it truly is helping me prepare to take care of one in the future.

They are growing an inch a week.

Got some unusual shots today.. They have a whole network of tunnels under the surface.. pretty cool.

This hole on the surface is quite small, I set the cam on macro and shined a flashlight down the hole to get these.

The tunnels connect and I can often hear them hissing down under the surface.

Basking.... Littlefoot is sprawled out flat, this is common to maximize surface area to absorb radiant heat from above.

Here we can clearly see the nictitating membrane (third eyelid) "blinking" on the right eye.

I killed a tree today to get this fantastic log. The bend in it will make a nice spot for perching.. I cut the top part at an angle to make it easier to run bolts through it, Don't want to take any chance that it may fall down.

They seem to like their new tree. :D I can't believe how much they've GROWN!!! :O

They are gorgeous and I agree seems that they really do like their new perch. Thank you guys so much for this journal. From someone who cannot house and care properly such wonderful creatures, it is a joy to appreciate and observe yours.

so I found that hiding night crawlers in the hollow spot proves interesting.

The hollow is just big enough to hide a worm or a fuzzy mouse inside it.

I have looked this thread over cover to cover and I am impressed and inspired by your progress and your beautiful Monitors. I am working with Dewy every day to try and get him to trust me. No handling, just offering food from the tongs and occasionally placing my closed fist on the cage floor. It has only been a week, but he no longer darts off when I walk up to the cage, but he still watches, poised to run.

how long did it take for them to get that big!? i got mine not too long ago and hes doubled in size in 2 months, sept 1 i measured him at 14'' on the dot and now sept. 12 he is 14 and 3 quarter inches.. WOW

Peak growth was an inch a week, slowing down a little now.

Littlefoot saw the bucket of food, and as soon as the door opened, he flew out of that cage like he has never been fed.

Yes, Littlefoot tolerates me well, Cera on the other hand is a genuine pistol, I can't even get close, her tail whips hurt.

hard to believe those little gecko size babies are two feet long already.

They look great, Wayne! I wish I could get Dewback to react like that. he still hides at first, but hes eating in front of me and will come to the front of the cage with some coaxing. Its only been a month so far, but good progress by my book.

I love how lean and mean your monitors are. I was once told by Kevin McCurley, " a fat Monitor is a dead Monitor". That tidbit has always stuck with me even 6 years later.

I love seeing dirty monitors! Clean ones usually mean they don't have a decent place to dig! My nile is filthy all the time so you wouldn't know she has the brightest yellow speckles all over!

Unless they give me a reason to split them up, yes.....

They interact well, until feeding time, then I do have to be careful, they will fight over food.
