This may be one of the dumbest threads I've ever seen in my life.

Cool pic, I remember seeing it before but it just popped up on Facebook a few days ago too. :gj:

I feel worse for this Retic than I do for that ball python.. Sorry if that "offends" anyone.

Only a Retic owner would understand why. And no, I'm not partial to them or anything.

However, the "...LOL" at the bottom of the picture I found very distasteful.

I could be wrong but, I doubt many people found the joke and/or photo funny.:(

I find it hilarious. What makes it even funnier is that albino BPs were going for at least a couple thousand each when that pic was taken. When I first seen it, albinos were around $2,500-3,000 each, and who knows how old it was by the time I initially found it.

I hoping your attitude gets deleted.

King cobras are ophidiovores. End of story.

Like everyone else said, nature's nature, I don't think a snake in the wild would care if it ate a morph Ball Python or a mouse. However, this could've been posted in a better manner.

Honestly, I thought the "Albino Lovers... Don't look!" was going to be someone showing off a really nice looking albino, not an albino being eaten by a cobra. :O

It is a neat picture, I personally like it. Ive fed numerous rough greens, garter's, rat snakes etc to kings at my last job, so it's not a big deal to me.....it is nature.

I don't have an issue with the picture in the least bit. Then again, I understand that snakes are predators and something must die for them to survive. I don't live in the fantasy land that frozen food magically appear out of thin air.

I raise meat goats. When one of the breeders die, I do an at home autopsy, skin it, remove the head (I practice taxidermy as a hobby), and feed it to the guardian dogs. It doesn't matter if it's a breeder I've had for years, one I've raised from being a newborn, or how attached I was to that particular animal. It boils down to the fact that it isn't cheap to feed two 150 pound dogs that roam 2+ miles each day.

I'd probably do the exact same thing that the owner of the cobra did. Certainly. It'd be preferable for the snake eater to eat mice, but as we all know, animals don't always do what we want.

Frankly, I find parts of this thread hypocritical. We feed mice, rats, rabbits, and in some cases poultry, pigs, and other livestock to our reptiles. All of which can be pets. When someone who owns these prey animals gets offended, we say "well, our snakes have to eat, too". Yet someone posts a picture of a snake that naturally eats other snakes and people get their panties in a twist. Makes me laugh.

That picture is nearly 10 years old. It started making the rounds back in 2002, and showed up on many, many t-shirts at the National Reptile Breeders Expo in Daytona Beach, FL that summer (I still have mine ;)). This was back when albino ball pythons were regularly selling for $2000+ EACH.

Story behind it (memory is a little dim) is that the albino was a dead F/T animal fed to the king cobra, and the picture was taken specifically to get people all riled up (hence making it into T-shirts, etc), because on the outside looking in, a lot of non-ball keepers felt the whole morph craze was kind of ridiculous at the time.

King cobras are snake eaters. Those of you who are flipping out over this probably don't realize that captive kings are more often than not fed snakes to which they'd NEVER be exposed in the wild, because that's what's available in captivity. I don't know a single O. hannah keeper that regularly feeds their king expensive ball python morphs just for grins, nor do I know any who *enjoy* feeding them snakes, beyond it being a normal aspect of keeping king cobras. I was fortunate to have one that ate rats, but it took a looooong time to get him to do so, and all things considered it wasn't the normal diet for this species.

This image was an opportunistic situation for a few keepers to have a laugh over those would get all bent out of shape over it...it certainly got my back up way back when, but looking back now, it's easy to have a laugh.

    $.02...

OT - but I miss your king. It was an honor and a privilege to meet him. King cobras are at the top of my list of favorite venomous.

There are better choices out there.

well no wonder they had problems with a diet so high in sugar. you're lucky they didn't end up diabetics. good luck finding an insulin ball to treat that problem. ;)
