shes doing ok. the vet said she should pass the egg to give her a few days.makes no sence.so i put humidity up and soaked her and left her alone for a day but kept my eye on her i even fed her a 3 week old baby rat and she ate it like everything was fine.she has fluid coming out so i hope the egg breaches so i can get it out.it just staying about 2 inches from her vent so all i can do is wait.im not wasting money on the vet no more because thats all he wants because there isnt another byu me and hes no help.maybe because im hispanic who knows.ill just have to go through it with her and pray the egg breaches.

As frustrating as it is, sometimes the best thing is to give the critter the time to do what she's got to do. The fluid coming out should make that egg easier to pass now that the first one is out. I don't think that she'd be taking prey if she was in distress.

The vet has to make a living but there are a whole lot of things that he could have done that would have lined his pocket. He could have tried aspiration, surgery, God knows what else.

I'm actually a little more comfortable when a vet takes a conservative approach and wants to see what an animal can do on it's own because interventions carry a risk of their own. The waiting sucks, but a lot of times the animal benefits. I remember a dog of mine that retained one pup--dead, of course. The vet could have operated to remove it. Instead he told me to let her nurse and the hormones from nursing would probably move the pup out. He was right. It was nervewracking waiting but the dog was better off than if I had insisted he cut her open and take the pup. I would have never thought of letting it wait.

It sounds to me like she's done nothing but improve since you got her. She's drinking, eating, she's got rid of one nasty old mummified egg, and doesn't seem to be too stressed out or she wouldn't still be eating.

Too bad the snake can't tell you how it feels. It sounds like she's probably feeling much better.

My guess is that it will start to stink soon.

Sad thing is that if your girl had gotten decent care all along there might have been a perfectly good little python crawling out of that.

It's a damn shame that everyone doesn't take care of their animals.

It might be best just to leave her be.

I would imagine the more you fool with her, the longer she's going to hold out on you. We females are famous for that. :D

Try letting her totally be for a least 24 hours, she might just relax enough to finish her job.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I was hoping she would pull through and be a good pet for you. At least she spent her final days with a caring owner.

she was sheding at the same time trying to lay eggs.she had no scale rot or a burn.the wetnes was fluid/urin on news paper plus i was soaking her to help with the shed so i can get it off during the bounded egg problem.all my snakes are well taken care of and fed regulary.i check my snake every day and if i see stool or wetnes its cleaned up right there on the spot.i have to much money and time invested in my snake to neglect them like that.figured i clear that up for you.
