are there any animals you dont like or are fearful of?

Rational fear: anything that can potential kill me, venomous snakes.
I can be near them, I'm just not going out of my way to be near them, I wouldn't own hots.

Irrational fear: maggots and parasites- bot fly larva
Both come from when I was a kid, I once poked a bloated dead deer with a stick and it burst, the other was catching a wild vole with a couple bot fly larvae sticking out of its belly, their little jaws like something out of the movie "Alien".

Actually Baboons and Chimpanzees seem to be the worst to me !

Pretty much any deadly venomous snake scares the pee out of me. Not like hoggies where it'll just sting for a bit, I mean the ones that can kill you, and the ones that just look like they want to kill you. I couldn't own hots, some are absolutely gorgeous but I couldn't get over that fear. My cojones are not that big :rofl:

I also don't like bugs. They don't necessarily "scare" me, they just make me squirm, and I don't like them lol. I got forced into holding a millipede at the last show....I was itching for hours after that. Bleh! I hate bugs lol.

I know this isn't an animal, but maggots. I am deathly afraid of them. It's not the fact that they are nasty creature. Maggots, larva, things like that. Scare the living crap out of me. I'm fine with everything else. Unless there is just a random bug on me I'll freak because I don't know what it is. But if I see a bug I could pick it up, not that I would. I have a ball python. I work at a pet store so I handle a lot of things. I've held a tarantula. Doesn't bother me. I don't know why these things scare me. :(

Weeellllll, I have a love/hate relationship with birds - LOL. I love how cute & personable they are, their funny little expressions, and of course the ones who can talk... but I hate how loud they can get, and the fact that I'm VERY allergic to them!

I actually had an African Grey Parrot many years ago, and she was smart as a whip - she could say probably 10-15 words at only a year old, and also did some really amazing sound effects. But the early-morning squawking was rather annoying, as was the fact that I literally couldn't breathe & became feverish around her. This allergy was causing major health problems, so luckily my veterinarian (who already had 7 birds) offered her a wonderful forever home. :)

Oh yeah... and I'm terrified of spiders!! :weirdface

Yellow Jacket hornets and I have never gotten along, but beyond that I fear no animal I've ever met. Respect is the biggest thing to remember, especially when it comes to wild animals...most of them are NOT cuddly!

Jellyfish. And I have GOOD REASON, TOO.

Cows.

Don't laugh! Every single cow I've met has hated me and tried to kill me. Starting from the cow that my granddad got when he bought a farm when I was 7.

Introduced it to me, I tried to make friends, the cow proceeded to headbutt me in the stomach and then try to trample me when I was on the ground.

Relations have not improved since then.

Horses. i like them; as long as there on the other side of the fence. also the wife scares me from time to time;)

Can't say I dislike any animals - I do however dislike the fact that mosquitos feed on me. Scared of spiders... kind of, but like the fact that they eat mosquitos! =)

There are obvious other animals that I would be scared of given that I had close contact to them... you know the usual things; cape water buffalo on the wrong side of the pond, angry panda with a bamboo bat, hippo pre morning coffee ;)

I'm scared of my girlfriend sometimes. Never know what she could do while I'm asleep

Horses are so scary...

Not unless it can kill me or do serious damage,.. even then I respect it more than fear it. I don't see the point of being afraid of something that can't hurt you but,.. that's just my opinion and how I see it.

The only thing animal wise that I have ever been in front of and made me seriously uneasy but in awww at the same time, was a Gaboon Viper. Even though it was behind 2 thick panes of glass and couldn't get too me.

Spiders. I am t-totally terrified of spiders. I got bit by a brown recluse when I was younger and that ended any fascination I had for them. I don't feel bad acting all girly about them anymore though because my hubby is more afraid of them than I am and can out "girly" scream me over a spider. LOL.

I also don't like German Cockroaches. The big ones don't bother me and I think the Hissing ones are just awesome, but I have a thing about bugs and my ears and the German ones just freak me out.

It's not a fear, but I don't like rodents.

I used to be impartial, but now after taking care of my snakes, I've slowly grown disgusted by rats. Whenever it comes to dealing with them on feed days, I am usually just annoyed by being around the rat. But then I suppose that makes it easier to please my ghost, since he likes pre killed.

Hmmm.. Hippos terrify me. If I was in a river and suddenly there was a hippo, oh man. Those things can get violent. I went to kenya once and we saw hippos duke it out and boy it was horrifying. They look so cute, but man, what TANKS!

Always was scared of spiders, now I enjoy tarantulas..can't wait to have some of my own!


Don't like most rodents as pets...they chew too much and live too short lives.

hmmm wasps scare me, but I mean, I respect their place in the world. They are like little bug assassins, awesome.

When confronted with anything potentially lethal of course I get nervous (or horrified depending on chance of being hurt or killed by said animal) but in general I don't have a big "fear"

Im not really afraid of any animals, but I dont feel comfortable around horses and wasps, but bees, rodents, wolves, cats, spiders (except black widows and brown recluses), sharks( I pet one once), snakes(duh im on this forum), birds excluding macaws, centipedes and other insects dont bother me. Though those tiny dogs kinda freak me out, the pitbulls ive met have been much nicer and less bitey then those little turds.

Leeches. HATE leeches! Nothing else really bothers me, at least not that I can think of. I wanted to be a vet growing up but I'm waaaaaay too dumb for that, so I just have a lot of pets instead, lol! :rofl:

I love all animals...except ants (i've been attacked as a kid by the big ones that bite, won't let go, and when you pull them off their heads are still biting you...and i saw a scarey movie *lmao*)

And mokeys and apes. UGH they are always so disgusting! i'm not afraid of them, but i have never thought they were cute. EVERY time i go to any zoo and see them they've been making themselves throw up, then eating it...mating, peeing, pooping, picking their nose, or a huge gorilla at the Santa Barbara zoo...i've seen him twice in 7 years...and BOTH times...years apart...he was pooping in his hand, and then eating it!!! I hate them *lmao*

I despise monkeys. They just creep me out, I am not a fan.

Also, I HATE worms and slugs with a burning passion. Yes, they are vital for a healthy ecosystem and so I am glad to let them go their way while I go mine, but I will not tolerate them touching me.

I think snails are strangely adorable and I will look at them, but same thing, they cannot touch me.

Dubai and T's scare me big time! I was offered a free herpstat if I would eat a Dubai and I couldn't do it.. LOL

Somebody else hit mine on the head: house centipedes and whip scorpions...i'd never saw a house centipede until i was like 20 in college. i ran out of the house. i thought a cricket, a spider, and a centipede had a mutant offspring. only centipedes we ever got at my parents house were the red ones (not a huge fan of those either.)

i also don't like hyenas, dragonfly larvae, and dark water at night. drop me in the amazon river or the middle of the everglades in pitch black and i'd have a heart attack.

Corn snakes (i kid you not), my first snake was a corn and it bit me, ever since then i refuse to own or handle any corns, plus i dont like their patterns anyways :P

I like almost all animals, i dont like insects, im afraid of spiders, although im planning on letting my wife get one so i can get over that fear. Its sad to see so many people on here afraid of birds/parrots, i love birds, :( wife wont let me get one, says their dirty, stupid pidgeons attacked her as a child, lol, thats what you get for having food around a bunch of birds.

Pigs gross me out, they just smell so bad. So do small dogs usually, especially the fuzzy breeds that get all the eye gunk. IMO dogs should be basically wolf shaped and sized and otherwise they are just wrong, larger than wolf sized being acceptable lol.

Iguanas I dislike. They have mostly been very ornery in my experience and I was once in the bathroom while my friend let hers (Larryguana) play in the bath tub and he defecated in the water. It was possibly the most disgusting thing I've ever smelt.

Hamsters scare me, as do gerbils. I've been bitten one too many times. I'm not overly find of guinea pigs or rabbits either.

Parasites are one thing I definitely fear and am repulsed by. Centipedes and scorpions are weird to me and I would not touch them but I love spiders.

Lmao human babies also kinda gross me out for the most part.

Horses and kids. Horses bc they have big heads and a tiny little mouth hole that will suck your whole arm in and bite it off. I also say kids bc some kids ive seen before act like animals. Normal kids are fine but the animal like ones make it very hard for me to resist punching them in the throat.

I also dont like bees/wasps bc i dont like getting stung but i think theres a general dislike for them overall anyways.

This is going to sound weird cause I love snakes but eels really oob me out.

I hate spiders, they freak me out! Also fish freak the crap out of me if I'm in the water with them. It's weird because I love swimming in the ocean but if I think of what could be under me I start having a panic attack. :|

I don't think I have a fear of any animal. I used to fear spiders but got over it. Scorpions kinda but I can hold one or transfer from container to where ever if need be. Nothing else really freaks me out in fact I'll usually try to catch it. But I do dislike cats and I'm not really sure why. But for whatever reason I think they are disgusting creatures.

I like little pigs though, but yes they stink and are nasty, unless you feed them little ice cubes through the bars and they show their little piggy tongues!

As for the dogs. Coleslaw knows..*barfs* I dont much like little dogs, unless its something like a Patterdale thats a bad ass.
I general lean towards the terrier though, if you havnt noticed, that and the large working shepherd types. Anything smaller or not "purposeful" annoys me.

Yep, Pavlov's studies on dogs and children shows that as well. Very interesting subject. Sorry to get off topic, so to get back on topic, I have a strong disliking for the bugs that eat up the veggies growing in my garden. Not as much as I dislike cats though. Sorry kitty lovers.

I really strongly dislike seagulls ... they're always dirty and squawking and pooping all over otherwise beautiful coastal towns. I wouldn't say I'm afraid of them, but the dislike is there. I also hate flying insects of any kind.

Do not like bugs or worms of any sort. Fleas, little things like that. I would probably be totally grossed out if my snakes ever got mites. This is why I have Pam on hand, just incase, no little bugs on my animals! Even if a see a flea in my house, which could have just happened in, because the animals get flea med I go on full out "de-flea" mode. My daughter likes to get the big earthworms from under rocks and play with them, then feed them to the chickens. Yuck. Also the mealies for the geckos, and anoles, can't do it. Nasty little things curl around your fingers when you grab them *grosses me out just thinking about it*. Lady bugs don't bother me. Just icky little bugs.

Wasps and jellyfish bc they're jerks. If I see a wasp in my house I cut it in half with sissors. Jellies are just so indiscriminate even unattached part beat up in the surf with neumatocysts will still get you. Arugh! And irukandji.... how can something so potent be so tiny?!

I hate apes: chimps, gorillas, orangutans, etc I just don't like them. I think they're gross and just creepy; I've never liked them.

Bugs, sharks, fish, other mammals I don't mind though. It's just the monkeys/apes...
