And yeah, that punch from Fedor was just devastating. First thing came to mind when he threw that was "Rocket Punch!" for those of you who play Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 =P.
Fedor's starting to KO people left and right, I was thinking he would've subbed rogers.
WAR FEDOR!
I thought he was through for a minute though, when Rogers had him against the fence pounding him but he pulled out of it. The guy is like a dang robot.
Yeah his last several fights have been KOs, I'm trying to remember the last person he submitted

Main Card:
Vera
Swick
Bisping
Wilks
Pearson
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
My only predictions are that Bisping is going to get flattened again.
I'm excited about the couture/vera fight, I ALWAYS love seeing couture fight. I'm going to be rooting for Couture, but there's always the question of age, and the fact that Vera is certainly a good fighter.
I want to see good ol' Captain America fighting past his 50th b-day :D Wouldn't that be something.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
I'd like to see couture win but I think vera's gonna get him. Hope bisping gets beat, i haven't liked him since the last ultimate fighter. Henderson's flying fist made me happy ha!

Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
i think swicks gonna win, i rather see him fight gsp than hardy eventually.. wasn't swick supposed to fight at the one of the last ufc ppv's but he was replaced due to injury?
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --

I've got 6 frozen pizzas, plenty of cheap booze(everything from beer to margaritas), my tv, my futon, and everything to make chocolate milkshakes.
Going to make a few calls and have a great night! I'm excited!!
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
WOW pearson was impressive! He's got a nice career ahead of him for sure.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
Bisping seriously impressed me. I've never been impressed by him until now, but even with a tough first round against a very tough opponent, he showed quite a bit of skill, and notable improvement over his last few fights.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
Brandon Vera got robbed. :(
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
I know i'm biased but I definitely scored the fight 29-28 couture, same as the judges, I can't see an argument for giving the fight to vera on points.
If you can't finish a fight you have to win on points, and vera couldn't accomplish that.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
Coture spent to much time in the clinch not being active. I am a big fan of Randy. I think you have to look at how dominate Randy usually is when he gets someone against the fence. And then realize that he was not able to dominate Vera like that. And I also think Vera had the more damaging strikes.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
I don't think anyone will dispute the fact that Vera had more damaging strikes, or that Randy wasn't as dominating as usual in the situations he spent 90% of the fight in. I certainly won't
I'm just speaking based on the scoring system, as I understand it, I would have given the first and third rounds to randy, and the second to vera, with typical 10-9 scoring per round since it seems you REALLY have to put the hurting on someone for an entire round to get so much as a 10-8 score.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
So how many of you are disappointed Denis Kang lost to Bisping and feel Vera won that fight?
loance
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
Bisbing displayed some of the best shrimping and hip control i've ever seen!!! very impressed. dennis kang is a beast for thoose of you who hadn't seen him before last night. pearson was on fire. wilks disapointed me. he demalished demarcus to win the ultimate fighter. i was expecting more "though he did get rocked early". what a knock out by andre winner. lets hear some thoughts on GSP VS Hardy.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
I'm not disappointed at all for the kang vs bisping. I was rooting for kang, but bisping deserved the win, won with style, and beat a truly tough opponent. Like merdcme said, kang is a BEAST.
Just because the guy I wanted to win didn't have his day, doesn't mean that I can't recognize that he was beat by someone who really did deserve a win.
GSP vs Hardy? I did not get the feeling from the Hardy fight that either opponent was up for taking on what we've seen from GSP in his last 3 fights. Hardy had better work harder than he has ever in his life to prepare for that. BTW I'm no GSP fan and I certainly don't think he's unbeatable or the best in his weight class, just my personal views on Hardy taking him on.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
i believe he is certainly the best in his wieght class. but i agree i dont think hardy will be much of a challenge. though he does have heavy hands and thats the only way i can see him winning. GSP to me is the most dominate fighter today (exept maybe anderson silva at 205). i mean that style wise.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
vera fight was more like a grecko roman wrestling match to me. Hardy vs GSP will be great match but I feel GSP won't have much of a problem with Hardy.
lance
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
My take on it:
The fight with Vera and Couture, it's a toss up really, Vera was more damaging, Couture was more controlling.
Hardy surprised me, I'm starting to like this guy. He's definitely going to have a lot of trouble with GSP.
Bisping, good for him on the come back, I just don't like him though.
Matt Brown, great win.

Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
the rematch won't go the distance this time around ^

Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
Wow a rematch already? Not even an in-between fight for either of them??
Interesting..
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
Probably no fight in between because of all the negative reaction to the way it turned out the first time, everyone wants Shogun to get his shot again
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
i think machida had an off night the first time they fought. i think he'll win ALLOT more decisively the second time.

If he didn't gas the last round I think he could've taken it.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
naw. he got beat up. dominated. it did look simalar to the first fight but it definatly went if forrests favor this time. i think the "split decision" was just to set up for a 3rd fight. no way a judge scored the fight in titto's favor

Apparently judges haven't been their jobs lately anyways =P.

Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
Roy Nelson takes the finale by knockout.
10 weeks ago I wouldn't have imagined it.
I bet he's feeling great, and he deserves it, definitely vindicated himself.

I don't do MMA, (12 year old freakin' kid here) But I do Tae Kwon DO and Wing Chun. I also do Japanese Kendo.:gj:

Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
Kimbo Slice is gonna get chopped down unless he strengthens those cheeeken legs. Any top contender will go straight for his legs and take him out. He did look better though.
Big Country can fight.:bonk::bonk:
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
how about kimbo's superhuman slam!!!:O
i agree with BG, those little legs barely got tapped tonight. if he doesnt step that up MAJORLY and faces a kick boxer he's DONE! i dont think he'll have to any time soon, i think that they will give him great matchs for his skill set (like houston alexander) because he's DEFINATLY a money maker. also he weighted in at 212, maybe he could make 205
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
Agreed on that slam!!! ATT definitely taught him a couple against-the-cage takedowns that he must have worked on. It doesn't hurt that he does have plenty of muscle all over that upper body (until he gets tired).
He's so top heavy that he has a tough time on the ground just because of his build. Top heavy, weaker than average legs for his weight class. You could see it in his mounts from the houston fight, you can just tip him off you and he loses his balance.

Big Gunns can't believe he only weighs 212. He must have some real chicken legs. He has the upper body of someone that's 240. It's gonna take him years to get where he needs to be. Dana will give him fights that he can win though. He is good for the sport. He loves to fight...and he'll fight anyone.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
I heard years back before he had any professional fights that Kimbo walked around at 280.
I think the UFC could do with some tiered fighting. That's the whole point, to have a bunch of fighters of various degrees of ability, and you fight to prove where you belong. Win and you move up, lose and you move down, win enough and you get a shot at the title.
Dana has set up the UFC and the people he signed be composed solely of fighters capable of having a shot at the title, with an extremely limited tier from new fighters to the champ. This is why we see people getting title shots, deserved or not, after just a handful of fights in the Octagon.
I understand that Dana wanted to move away a little bit from old habits.. he himself talks about how back in the day he gave Tito Ortiz the easy fights and Chuck Liddell the hard fights, and thought that was a little unfair. However, I think there is certainly room in the UFC for a range of fighting abilities.

UFC 107 Picks
Grant
DaMarques
Linhares
Hendricks
Wiman
Belcher
Struve
The Carpenter
Pierce
Mir
BJ
BJ vs Sanchez This should be a great fight. BJ needs to take this fight to the ground immediately. We all know Diego is going to come out swinging like there is no tomorrow and if we catches BJ...
I don't see Kongo giving Mir a hard time. I figure Mir is going to tire him out take him down then choke him out.
-
Re: -- Official Mixed Martial Arts Thread --
im only calling the main card, I honestly dont know anyone on the preliminary
Buentello
Guida
Fitch
Mir
Sanchez
