I walk my snakes in the park. Bring them out, set them down. I swear they follow me. For a while, then get bored. Just like kids ^_^

I tend to take my snakes out in my backyard for photos and thats about it. Typically people are afraid of snakes and do not react well to them being around in public places. Its unfair but with the current political situation all snake keepers need to be aware of how their actions can negatively influence peoples views around them.

    or taken snakes anywhere.

No, I prefer not to take my snakes out and stress them out un-necessarily if I can possibly help it.

I just walked over to the owner of the parks office and showed her my snake, She freaked out. xD
Did you know ahead of time that she was afraid of snakes? If you did, then that was pretty disrespectful and can actually work against those of us who are fighting for our rights to keep our snakes, given the current climate and the bills that are being introduced that may take that right away from us.

    Just my very opinionated :2cent:

I have my own property and I do allow my snakes some fresh air during nice weather-

Just a few shots of some of my babies enjoying the outdoors. I've a walled porch area that I let them explore & the bigger ones get some yard time, but only when I've got 2 or more sets of eyes since it's a big property. I rather like to keep it private as not all folks like snakes or some folks may REALLY like my snakes. ;)

During the late spring and summer, I do take some of my snakes outside for a bit. I'm lucky, because we have a fenced in yard. The ratsnakes love to explore, and the BPs seem to do the "periscoping" thing a lot when outside, very curious of their surroundings. I only take them out once or twice a month, and not all of them get to go outside, because some seemed to get stressed, staying balled up all the whole time. Others really seem to enjoy it.

Snakes are not dogs. They are not "walking" type pets. And considering 90% of the public is afraid of snakes, what would the point be in taking them off your property?

I find taking snakes on walks to be highly irrisponsible. I guy around here used to walk around with a labyrinth burm. I thought it was an afrock and I asked him if it was. And he said it was an Okatee Burm. I don't even think that creature exists. He was in a public park and his snake has peices of shed coming off all over the place. It looked miserable.

The guy tried to sell me drugs.

I've taken Atticus with me to the pet store I bought her from a couple times but I'm not sure if taking either her or Onyx out like that would be something I'd like to do on a regular basis.

It's always funny to witness reactions, but because the public is more interested in owning a dog than they are owning a snake, people are more susceptible to overreacting or act smug about it.

Pythons and Boas are illegal in San Francisco (within city limits), so that's a definite no-no around here. :colbert: I have a fenced patio they roam around sometimes, but only when I can supervise very closely - because they could easily find a hole to slip through, and end up in my neighbor's yard. Not good! The other day I answered the door with Delilah around my neck, because I didn't have time to put her back... luckily the delivery guy just said "sweet snake." :)

Short answer to the OQ - no, I don't go for walks with my snakes. It's simply too risky in too many ways...

Hahaha! I just got the craziest image in my mind...Snakes on a Leash! LOL! That would be pretty funny though, to walk a snake on a leash...also, it wouldn't exactly work...random moment!
