Re: Dont know what kind of lizzard
Yes, they CAN eat cat or dog food... but that shouldn't be all they get. :) The BTS I adopted was fed ONLY kitten food for 5 years, and now I'm having to wean him off cat food.
But a BTS is really easy to feed - they like chicken, lean beef, turkey, cat food, worms, many fruits and veggies... just make sure they get a balanced and varied diet and they're great! :)
The forum Bluetongueskinks.net is a great place, BTW. The care sheet there is tops and will tell you all you need to know about their care.
Re: Dont know what kind of lizzard
Where could i buy one of these guys
Re: Dont know what kind of lizzard
Bluetongueskinks.net has a listing of breeders, as well as classifieds from folks looking to re-home. Other sources would be Reptile shows, reptile rescues, and craigslist. :)
I warn you, these are not cheap animals. Typically, a BTS costs around $110+ depending on age and type. They need large cages as adults with plenty of floor space, so most tanks don't work for them too well. :) Otherwise, they're awesome pets - beautiful, social, and very sweet.
Re: Dont know what kind of lizzard
thanks then i will probly build him a enclosure, i need to look up and learn a little more before i get one anyway.
Re: Dont know what kind of lizzard
A second great lizard I have schneider's skink .It's not a huge lizard, smaller then the blue tongue.Very personable, not overly expensive, needs a 20g long tank + but not as big as the blue. Mine thinks it`s a puppy and likes to have a pat and it comes out when Im in the room:) It eats bugs ,fruit and pinkies.
Just a crazy youtube video:

Many lizards that you would feed crickets too can also be fed a variety of other insects instead. Roaches of one sort or another are often a great choice.
Re: Dont know what kind of lizzard
BTS are great! I also like Uromastyx as well. They require much warmer temps, but the diet is similar. I think they look like grumpy old men.
Re: Dont know what kind of lizzard
I know this is an older post but if the op could elaborate on the amount of space available and budget then it would easy to narrow down the list.
