Re: So I went to the reptile show..
Thanks everyone. She's doing quite well.
Re: So I went to the reptile show..
You have to put her in your sig now, and add on to your collection of snakes.
Re: So I went to the reptile show..
Great looking snake, congratulations. Histarical, that your parents think a BP can eat a cat or a dog. I have two cats and I have seen some big BP. Based that and the stories on this forum about difficulties getting BP's to eat rodents I think your pets are safe. You would think that your parents would believe you (assuming you tried to correct them) rather than believe an uneducated assumption they have made. You would also think that when you are 30 like I am now, they will believe you more. I can tell you that although the may, chances are they won't. I am a system admin for a telemarketing firm. I work on servers all day and do some grunt IT stuff as well. My mother still calls her brother who is a computer programmer when she needs computer advice. He always tells her to call me because he has no idea, he is a programmer and not an IT guy. Then she calls me and says that she called her brother and he told her to call me. The worst part is I have a great relationship with my mom. She respects me as a person, we talk about once a week. She just can't see me as an authority on anything yet.

They got spooked by a person who overexagerted the size of Bps. She claimed they were 'this long' (arms stretched out wide), and this 'big around' (a good six inches around).

Well depending on the arm span of the person that could be true. But the key is to look at how much that animal weighs. Sure a female BP can get over 5 feet long, but they are still not going to fair well against a dog. The other key point is that you get a secure cage and don't arrange for play dates between your snakes and other pets, unless those pets are rodents.

Awesome looking corn ya have there...congrats..:gj:
And you wouldnt believe the people that ask me about a ball python eating them, or their dogs or cats, or whatever. I always have to explain that ball pythons dont get big enough to hurt anything larger than a rat...:rolleye2:
Re: So I went to the reptile show..
Well, the dogs we have are small. One is a six pound yorkie and the other is a 20 pound scottie. I was interested in getting a male since they're smaller and tend to be less expensive. I'll eventually get a bp, just when I move out. Until then, this girl will do fine.
Got my first 'gift' today lol. Naturally, she'd leave it in the hardest to reach corner behind the water dish.
