    First off, congrats!

As far as "diets" are concered I think WW is one if not the best choices out there.
I am NOT a fan of low carb diets like atkins because they cut out a very important macronutrient which can lead to deficiencies. also, they are not a realistic diet for people to stay commited too and a weight rebound is usually soon to follow. And most people loose alot of energy while on low carbs, not to mention your motivation to exercise lol.

Now WW on the other hand has been based on 1 principal that most people struggle with (especially in the US): portion control.
using points to track your portions is a great idea.
also what most dont realize is that you can loose weight eating what you like by just watching your portions. there is no need to cut out anything as long as you burn more cals than you take in.
now throw in some resistance exercise and the lbs should melt off.

I've done the WW program more times than I care to mention. I was successful everytime but once you stop following the program or stop counting your points - the pounds come back.

I will say that it is a great program if you are willing to make it a lifestyle change and be able to adjust to always counting your points and weighing everything that goes into your mouth - for me it just got sooo boring after a year on the program and I just fell off - gained all the weight I lost back.

Now I just live my life as pleasantly plump and happy!!!! LOL

I wish you all the luck with the program.
