Re: Incubator Setup Pictures
Just cant wait to get the herpstat so i can now try it all out.
Re: Incubator Setup Pictures
Does the Herpstat Probe Placement look good. Its in middle but should i put it towards the middle of the shelf of is in front fine.

Re: Incubator Setup Pictures
heres the incubator after 30 mins of running. I have the herpstat set at 88.5 and as you can see it stays at 90.1-90.5 on the herpstat and up to 91 inside. I checked with the temp gun and its matches the acurite inside
So which reading should i listen to the most. Also should i lower the herpstat to say 88 and see if that keeps it lower than 90 in the incubator. IM shooting for 88.5-89

Re: Incubator Setup Pictures
one last note. i tried it at 88. and opened the door to let some heat out and now its steady at 88.7 and the acurite reads 88-89. IM sure the set 88 on herpstat will have to be increased in colder months but just needed to know where it stood until then.
Re: Incubator Setup Pictures
Hey Flame, I have the exact freezer that I just ripped apart to make as a bator! LOL I just have a few questions about the flexx and the herpstat. How much Flexx did you need and how is the herpstst working for you? I think I am gonna add a plexi glass window in the door so I don't have to open the door to look in on the eggs and a light I can turn on in the inside. Don't know how much of a problem that is gonna be. Here is mine though minuse everyting. LOL

Re: Incubator Setup Pictures
I used 11 ft of 11" flexwatt with 6 2 liter bottles on the bottom. The herpstat works great. I put the probe on the bottom shelf and after 8 hours i get a 88.5 bottom shelf, 89.3 middle and 90.2 top shelf. Wanna shoot for a 88-90. I also have 6 80 mm fans installed ran to a computer power supply jumped.
As for cutting in the door for a plexiglass will compromise the heat. the doors are insulated as well. I only check on the eggs once a week so opening it for few mins a week will not hurt them.

Re: Incubator Setup Pictures
You really needed that many fans? That seems a bit much can't you go just 2 that are a bit bigger? I am no wiring genius so that might be hard for me! LOL
So you use 6 2 liter bottles of water and set them ontop of the flexwatt on the bottom of the freezer?
Re: Incubator Setup Pictures
Yes just put the 2 liters on the bottom on top of the flexwatt.
You dont need that many fans you can get away with say 3 120mm fans. I went 6 smaller oens so i can position t hem to move the air form fornt ot back better than just say 3.
If you really want a nice fan there are 360mm fans that are 14" in diameter and youd only need one in the freezer. They cost $30+. I was gonna go that route but may dry out the top shelf tubs faster than several small ones. When buying fans pay attention the CFM. the higher it is the more air it moves. I only used 33CFM fans whcih moves perfect amount of air.
heres the larger fan i was going to use but i stuck with 6 80mm fans
