Just deep enough that he will be able to swim up to get some air every once in a while.. Ball pythons spend the majority of their life submerged...:rolleye2:

Without research, and watching pythons on tv, this person probably thought hrmmmm, i always see them slithering at a waters edge, etc etc blah blah ...no excuse whatsoever for this husbandry but it doesnt suprise me. People can do some silly things both intentionally and unintentionally. Time to educate.....one of what I think our responsibilities as reptile enthusiasts is.

to often experts or people with knowledge rather bash, attack, show people who arent educated how ignorant they are and all the stupid mistakes they made..........instead when an action is unintentional no matter how silly, unbelievable it may be, education should come first without judgement. You never know you may have someone who truely loves reptiles and may grow into a great herper?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

A good example would be my ignorance when I got married, I was told by all listen and do whatever she says!!!!!!!! I started like that but soon realized I still can do whatever I want and have yet to lose half of what we own lol:)

    ps....that was a joke........

I feel sorry for this poor ball. However I would go buy a good book and give it to this person, or print out some care sheets from good sources and tell them about this web site, so they can learn the best way. I have found that newbies want to do the right thing but there is a LOT of misinformation out there. Go talk to them, be nice and they will listen :)

A new morph... the Sea Ball

Does it eat goldfish, frogs, or aquatic mice?

This is truly sad and I hope not true, but if it is, they probably bought it off CL where it was mis- identified as a baby anaconda...:tears:

    it would eat sea kittens.

(anyone knowing/hating PETA will get the reference).

Going back to the original topic, i HOPE you can speak to the owner and get that poor snake back into an environment it SHOULD be in.
