I don't breed rats, only keep them as pets.
Between the ASF's and mice, the ASF's are WAY easier. They aren't as sensitive to high temperatures (which is a concern in my area), they don't fight as much as mice and they don't have that rather pungent aroma like mice and they are a better size for an adult BP.
There are some stickies in the feeder area on how to take care of ASF's and I believe there is a 'looking for ASF' thread so you could see if anyone in your area has them.

Since your snake is still a baby, I would recommend you continue feeding it live until it is eating reguarly and then you can work on switching to f/t if that is what you prefer. I've only had one bp that I never could never get to take f/t, my other 12 took all took it first try; so don't give up hope on your little guy yet.

I don't think anyone thinks any less of you and I'm sorry about your little guy. I think I'm one of the few people on this forum who also frequents rodent forums and I get pretty aggravated at both sides sometimes, so I tend to snap. My apologies again if I came off as harsh in my first post.

Do you also not think that a bit more discretion when admitting you are feeding live for 'revenge' or for whatever vicarious thrill you get would help our image?

FWIW: I breed mice and I feed them live. I am hardly their almighty protector, but I am a little dismayed by the hypocrisy shown by the original poster that the snake is not blamed for following its instincts but the mice are.

Differing opinions and criticisms are to be expected if you choose to post on a public forum as I'm sure the OP is aware of.

I love watching my snakes devour little innocent mice.

    Nope, Mice deserve to die.

Eh, Revenge is what we all live for. I say film the feeding of the females and share it with us.

The male mouse was only there to party. The two lesbian female mice wouldn't have it. It's a shame. They should be put to rest my consumption from a snake.

    (Sorry, couldn't resist)
