If your female has started to lay eggs - even if they are infertile - it's definitely a good idea to provide her with a lay box. Some females will hold their eggs if they don't have suitable places to lay and this can cause some serious health issues. I keep layboxes in with all females who are around a year of age or older. Just in case.
