    Welcome to the addiction!

    Here ya go

That will help your setup tremendously...

    Also

Aspen bedding is better for your ball (hmmm...new tongue twister :P)
but newspaper is best...I'm only assuming you want a decorative tank setup, so that is why I recommended the aspen...

you may want to cover the screen

heres a link to do that...

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=90187

Log hides are not optimal for your BP, you can buy the cave hides from the petshop, oooor....

    http://www.ball-pythons.net/forums/s...ad.php?t=59280

I think that about does it... The caresheets explain to you UTH, and Acurites, and handling and yadda and yadda and yadda...

But please do read...it is very essential for upkeeping a ball, and I couldnt have done it without this site...

    :welcome:

I think I'm just gonna copy and paste what I just mentioned above for any newbies passing my way...to the others...did i fail to mention anything else?

    whoops....

    What makes aspen better?

Right now I do have the screen covered just with foil taped on though, I didnt put tape over the whole piece of foil like in that thread.

Also for the log hide I piled up the repti bark on the glass so you cant see in/or out. I already have a cave hide on the other side but its covered pretty well by the fake plant. (she couldnt find it i had to put her half way in it and now she wont come out, before she was just hiding under the leaves)

The tank came with a hydrometer in it, i want to get one of the acu-rites with therm, humidity, and a temp probe but im not sure where to find one, I havent really looked IN STORE yet.

Just for the set up, what else do I need, since I know I already have the essentials. (I have a 75watt redlight and a 30-40 zoomed UTH) I want another fake plant for the other side but I dont know what else would make it better.

You should have two identical hides.

Are you regulating your heat sources?

I like aspen better personally. I wouldn't say it is better than the bark though.

Aspen is better because it holds humidity better...and through personal experience with reptibark (not with my bp) Ive seen lots of bugs in there as well...

As already mentioned you should have two identical hides...

and as well the log can also be a place for bugs...

Acurites are located in your local K-mart, Lowes, Home Depot, and Walmart...not for 50 dollars, nor for 40, not even 20 dollars!...just only 3 easy payments of 5.33 (plus shipping and handling) Sorry I go off on these tangents sometimes...:rolleye2:

You may also want a thermostat and if you can't afford that then a rheostat...to control your uth

The light may or may not be necessary, but will be determined once you have your accurite...

It is not recommended to have a 35 gallon (i think thats what you said) tank for a baby bp, 10 gallon will do ok...BUT since you have your 35 gallon (I think thats what you said) you may want to get a divider, or just crowd the place with fake plants and such...even crunched up newspaper...

I dont think this has been mentioned, but there are certain fake plants that detaches to the main vine
I detach the leaves and spread them around the floor, it looks very stealthy when my bp cruises around...

    Hmmm...what else?

Make sure you love your BP

    Thats all i think...

I deffinatley noticed alot of bugs in the repti bark too. First when i put it in the tank, then i washed it, and got the bigger tank so i had to put more in, and didnt wash it, i saw like 6 little bugs in my bathroom just while i was brushing my teeth.

Well I want to get an acu-rite soon.

How much does a thermostat cost?

I had a 10 gallon set up for the snake but then I got the 38 i think it is. im not really sure but its somewhere around there, and i already had the 30-40 gallon UTH and i didnt want to set it up so it was sticking out of the 10gallon tanks edge. As I said I do want to get other fake plants to put on the other side of the tank since its pretty open.

If you want to get all the bugs off the repti-bark than throw it in the oven at 130 degrees for 30 minutes and you will have a nice sterile substrate.
I personally like aspen the best, hold humidity the best and makes cleaning a breeze.
A ranco thermostat from reptile basics is 80 bucks, its a pretty solid tstat in my opinion, mine have never gave me any problems.
the 38G will probably end up giving you problems in the long run, stress and security issues are more than likely to become an issue, if you want a smaller setup and save some money tubs will work great and they are the best for keeping the humidity and temps consistent.

thanks for that, its a bit late but still. I washed the first bit of it because it seemed really dusty.
$80 for a tstat. Ill have to look around for some

lol. well also, i have the first feeding vid. she didnt like the mouse dangling to much, rather on the ground... we tried once before this and she didnt go after it so I put her back in her tank...
Lame warning for people who freak out about live feeding.... and crazy "music" because my friend likes that stuff and it kinda goes with the whole... killing the mouse theme...

YouTube - Baby Ball Python Eating

(idk how to have it show up on this page unless it does automatically).. preview post and it does... cool.

haha. music replaces the excited lame talking and stuff. :gj:
