Yeah, I have my Acu-rite probe right below the substrate on the glass and about 1/4 of reptibark on top of it. Works out really well for me.

Update: Temps are finally stable after some major tweaking, and two brains work better than one! Now if only my bank account would "feed" itself so I can go get a snake now!
