Re: how did you learn about bp's
There's a local guy who runs a wildlife safari (I'm not too impressed, all his animals are kept in too small of cages; the only ones with any form of freedom tend to be the four legged ones) and one year, he set up a booth at the local fair. While my step-sister was getting her picture taken with the fennec fox, I opted to hold one of the ball pythons. I didn't hold it for very long because the sheer strength of it surprised me and borderline scared me.
Still, I was fascinated and started doing research. As it stands now, I drool over numerous morphs; the leutistic and axanthic anything being my favorites.

:D Thanks. I'll eventually get me some balls, more than likely after I move out. Mom isn't a snake fan, lol
Re: how did you learn about bp's
We have Cats and Dogs, but my Son wanted a cool pet, Something different. I talked to my co-worker (Snake Doc) whom has Ball Pythons and he invited me to a Show in Raleigh, NC. There we purchased Yoda.
My son lost interest in Yoda very quickly but I in turn became addicted to them and now I have 9 Ball Pythons. All from a visit to a Reptile Show. Great thing is My Wife and Son love my new hobby due to the fact it keeps me at home.PEACE:rolleye2:
Re: how did you learn about bp's
I don't remember how I got into ball pythons..I was looking for a pet and I wanted a bearded dragon because my mom would not let me get a dog. I then discovered a ball python and I was going to buy a hatchling ball with its cage, heat, and accessories for 75 bucks but then my mom's co-worker told my mom all the bad stories of ball pythons(irresponsible owner) and my mom said no but before that story my mom said if it is alright with my dad.A year later, I got my first ball python, his name is Allah and is the best eater! And what was great was that when he was at the store they never feed him but when I got him I offered him food and he took it up!Now I always look at ball pythons everyday and also resist holding my ball python all the time to not stress him out, but I can't help it, their so cool:)
And I am in the market for another snake...Jungle or Bredli..
Re: how did you learn about bp's

Re: how did you learn about bp's
I had seen them around for a while when I was younger, but my parents opted to by me a tortoise as a child. Eventually it got too big and we ended up donating it to a local guy who has many exotic animals that you need a license for in New York. Gave us a free show and told me that if I ever wanted one he could give me a really good deal in return for the tortoise. That was years ago and now that I finally have a ball I'm trying to get in contact with him to see if he remembers me haha.
Re: how did you learn about bp's
I had wanted a snake for a long time and I started out with a garter that I had purchased. I then seen a ball python in a pet store and thought they looked pretty cool. I did many months of research on their care and husbandry. I now have my first ball python and I hope to some day have more.
Re: how did you learn about bp's
I have had snakes since I was a kid. I got my first ball python about ten years ago. I have no idea when I learned of the species, but I know when I got her I knew they are nice snakes and a good size, etc. I learned about morphs more recently. I'd known of albino, but the rest were a surprise. Piebalds made me really excited to breed.
Re: how did you learn about bp's
Well I was about 8 when my neighbor showed me what a ball python was and I am pretty sure I was afraid of it at first. He let me hold it and it wasn't nearly as frightening as I was expecting. My parents wouldn't let me have a snake so last year (i was 22) My husband and I went to the pet store and I randomly said I wanted a snake. I wanted something different, something I had wanted before and never obtained. I was looking at corn snakes at first and I had my heart set on one. Kevin convinced me otherwise because he wanted a ball python. We didn't pick up a snake that day and we did a bit of research and that is when I discoverd Ball python morphs!! Needless to say we bought one from a friend and a year later 1 turned into 24. They are still coming. We actually received 2 pinstripes today. :gj:
