puttin 600 grams on a 1000 gram female in 6 months shouldnt really be hard, but also depending on if they are fasting, and if they eat weekly, anyway back to the topic at hand

Do some serious reading,,as far as the breeding part goes, its the easy part, its not rocket science at all, they kinda do all the work, and a good incu takes it from there, your part,is knowing what to do after eggs hatch, and knowing what to look for before the eggs are laid,,and genetics, make sure you know not just what your breeding, but a good grasp of bp genetics, somebody looking at a pastel you make thinking fo buying, but asking about a certain moprh and its genetics, doesnt wanna hear "i dont know"as they hand you a couple hundred bucks. And make sure you breed quality, please,i see a lot of people buying,in easy words,f grade pastels for 80 bucks just to have the morph, then breeding them to dark busy pattern girls, making more f grade pastels,be very selective not just with morphs, but also with your normal girls you choose to use,i have a couple girls that i wont use for many co doms, they are just here to make hets once the recessive projects prove out,or for this year,my superball project, and other birdbrain ideas i have, they wont go to a pastel or anything where light coloring and good pattern is needed,,maybe a mojave,as one has mojave type pattern markings, and i do kinda dig dark mojaves, but any,,thats besides the point,,just read up,be selective of what you buy and use as breeding stock,as its not easy if you start producing low grade,to bring up the name youve built once you get the higher grade stuff, you may spend a bit more on the animals, but it is worth it from a breeding, business, and pretty to look at while you clean cages:)

I dont believe in an age limit for a hobby. Your passion should be the determining factor, not your age. You can be 8, but if you love the animals and learn everything you can, I see no issue...exept that most allowances don't cover the price of morphs and child labor laws might be an issue. Hehe. Do what you love for the love of it.

My son is 13yrs old... Got his first ball when he was 7. Became really interested in everything about them and began to read anything he could find. Became a member of this forum and learned a thousand times more than he knew before. Hatched out his first clutch at age 12, and has the second one in the incubator as we speak. He has turned the money he made from selling last year's babies as well as working odd jobs back into his "hobby/passion", and has purchased morphs to grow to breed as well. he even goes to classes at school to give demonstrations with the snakes, both on genetics/breeding and just the basics on the snakes as he hopes to alleviate some of the fear that kids have of these wonderful creatures... So, I don't think 15-16 is too young as long as you are willing to put in the time to learn and do it right. Who knows, it may develop into something much more. My son is actually taking part in a summer program at the local zoo and will be working with the reptiles and reptile keepers!

I say: Go for it! But learn, learn, learn and make sure you have some money set aside for possible vet visits, meds, etc.

It sounds like you a responsible person, so it does not matter how old IMHO. As long as you are willing to put in the time, you are passionate about the animals, and you can afford to give them great care, then I see no reason why you shouldn't breed.

Yea, as long a you know you are going to be able to financially support those babies, until they are sold (unless your keeping them), and that you can afford an incubator, vermiculite, tubs, thermometers, racks, thermostats, etc....
Im only 14 and already successfully bred two female 100% Het Albinos to My Male 100% Het Albino, and got one clutch in the incubator so far, and another clutch that should be layed around july 13th....

Dont forget conducting yourself in a mature manor..

I think just about everyone here knows some 50+ year olds who shouldnt own a snake, let alone breed.
Age has nothing to do with it as long as you can afford everything. Granted, I think it may be hard for a kid 13 and down to really afford everything without some help from the parents especially any vet bills that may just pop up. Anythings possible really though.
