The differance is between "own" and "gardian ship" or some such fool thing. I OWN my animals. My snakes can not choose a new owner, they can not judge who is the best to care for them. EVERYTHING they get is from me. They are (more or less) helpless to my whim. Now that sounds cruel but it is the hard facts. The same thing goes for my dogs and cats in a lesser way. My cats can choose to never come back, my dogs can run away if they really really tried and I couldn't stop them if they really decided to run, especially my 125 lb dog. The snakes have no such options.

Now on the other hand I have/had gardian ship over my son. He has a mind of his own, he can look and decide who he wants to live with and when he is old enough (next month) he will be considered an adult and I have no say in what he dose.
