blazing red belly???

If the animal has a bright red belly for longer than a few days until shed, I would be concerned it is a health issue...

this is not a health issue, this is pigment. Whether it's permanent pigment, or temporary, whether the snakes were born with it or got it elsewhere, I dont know. All of the others did not have this. I am very good at picking healthy bright eyed, bushy tailed snakes. All of the other hundreds had the same smooth, lustery velevet skin of baby BP's as these do. If you look closely at the individual scales, you can see that it's color and not blood vessels, infected tissue, etc. Its brilliant orange. From the tip of the chin to the tip of the tail. i have 4 of them that have this coloration some with more than others and 2 without.

Here's the pic... I hope it doesn't go away, but something tells me with a few sheds it will! Cause that's how BP's roll!

It looks similar to the one I saw advertised as a CH a month or 2 ago.

While I understand that you are probably well versed in picking healthy animals, there is still a chance that it is a health issue. Never discount that as being a possibility.

OR, as other people have said, a substrate stain or so forth and so on.

I am personally aware of the Koo-laid balls, and yours looks like it to me.

Enjoy it while you can!

Like I said, I do not in any way believe it to be a health issue. If it were I would be highly, incredibly surprised. Until they show signs of illness or otherwise I will continue to label this pigmentation, although I can't say whether it's man made or naturally occuring! Maybe they got into the koolaid powder before coming to the show!!! :rolleyes:

aSnakeLovinBabe...... I see over at www.thamnophis.com and you have given me good words when it comes to my snakes....... I know that you have more snakes then quite a few people and you will know what is going on with you new baby... i hope that the baby stays red for you, but as you did say.... that is the way they roll...... keep us updated as to how long he stays red will... Oh and incase I did not say it before Beautiful snakes... congrats......

I've also heard someone mention soaking CH imports in Gatorade to re-hydrate them. Dunno how true it is though.
