I use Loxahatchee Rodents. The shipping is always very reasonable for me. Nice guys, clean facility, good quality rodents, good customer service.

I was going to mention these guys as well. I have been to their facility many times, and have been getting rats from them for years. Jim & Bill are probably the nicest guys you could ever deal with. Thankfully I don't have to have them shipped, I just pick up directly from them. But their prices are very reasonable and they are always running discounts.

Loxahatchee Rodents all the way! :snake:

Thanks, I read your post and tried Big Cheese. They're just as you described. Good weight, clean and vacuum packed. Bought 100 jumbo mice. Really happy, highly recommend.:)

Have always used rodent pro and been happy with their stuff. I avoid shipping by purchasing from them at reptile shows. You can order online at the sale price and pick up at the shows. Of course I have to pay the entrance fee which is $7 here in St. Louis but that beats shipping costs any day. If you live close to any descent sized reptile show, you might look at that as an option.

My last order from big cheese was 40 rats (30 small, 10 medium) and 50 large pinkies for 100.00 even, with shipping. That works down to VERY slightly over 1.00 per rodent shipped. If I had more snakes or had more freezer space the cost per item would have been lower - but that is *still* cheaper than the 1.50 for a fuzzy and 3.00+ per rat I would have paid locally.

And a HECK of a lot cheaper than the 13.00 per medium frozen rat from PetSmart!

Big cheese rodent factory 50 jumbo mice with shipping, 75$ works out to a 1.50$ a mouse. Clean and vacuum packed. I usually order a 100 at a time, comes out to 1.15$ a mouse. Feeding three animals, lasts about 5 to 6 months. Used to use RP, but read about Big Cheese here. Tried them and was really happy with the quality.

I think a lot of people just don't do the math when it comes to the shipping. They just seen 35/40.00 shipping and flinch, which is understandable but....

If you don't have the freezer space, yeah, it's a problem, and you DO have to pay more upfront, but. The breakdown, even with the shipping costs included, really does end up being cheaper than most local suppliers and WAY cheaper than somewhere like PetSmart selling arctic mice.
