    Re: Behind the Name
Here are just the names and reasons for the names of my BP's:
Smiley - The markings around his snout make him look like as if he's grinning from ear to ear.
Pretzel - Strikes poses in front of the camera that make him look like a pretzel.
Flea - Loves to push his head into armpits and wherever else it tickles.
Casper - I couldn't think of a better name for a washed out albino ("Casper the friendly ghost").
Lilith - Another albino that looks rather spooky, so she needed a spooky name.
Genie - She's got that belly dance figured out!
Linus - Always slow moving (just like the "Peanuts" Linus).
Trinity - Looks good and strikes like a lightning bolt.
Charlotte - The spider, of course.
Cily - Well, I didn't wanna spell her name the way she acts: 'silly'.
Nova - That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the dots on his nose. They look like little super novas.
Missy - Easy going and very social.
Joker - That boy is cuddly, but you never know what comes next once he's out of the enclosure. He likes cleaning off the kitchen table in a bulldozer sort of way.
Cuddles - Just as the name says, he likes to cuddle.
Maja - Like the bee (she's a bumble bee).
Bitsy - Cause she's just the contrary.
Lance, short for Lancelot - My knight in shining armor (pied "armor").
Thor - Because of his blond color and his very strong built.
Sable - For the color (not the teeth!)
Baron - He's a bit on the eccentric side, but very docile once he gets out of his enclosure.
Nala - Wild looking. She reminded me of the Jungle, so Nala it was.
Ash - After Ash Wednesday in Addams Family. She puts her head to the side and hisses (never strikes).
Tribbles - That's trouble! This boy is fast moving and it takes four hands to get him back into his enclosure.
    Noir - Black back.
Storm - Very dark, totally whacked pattern with some markings that look like storm clouds.
Priscy - That's what she is and that's how she moves.
Deja and Vue - Not related, but very difficult to tell apart.
Karma - Meeting this guy was karma as far as my daughter was concerned.
Dotty - Dots just like a pearl necklace down her back.
Cleo and Ceasar - Very gracious moving and adoring each other through the glass.
Drakk, short for Dracula - Yupp, for exactly that reason ... he's got teeth and he likes to use them.
Tabby - didn't want to spell her name tubby. She's a whopper and a half.
Crowley - again, didn't want to spell his name the way I first perceived him: Growling like a bear (I don't think, he knows, how to hiss).
Nexus - It "clicked" when my daughter met him.
Jazebelle - My daughter gave her that name, because it sounded good to her.
Magic - A rescue that nobody gave a chance. Rather than calling her Miracle, we decided on Magic.
Gabriel - He's such an angel.
    Simba - a banded boy.
    I hope, I've got them all ...

Well, ... thank you, but I think everyone posting here cares a great deal about his/her critters - else they wouldn't be posting here with all those neat stories about them.

I named mine after Ozzy Osborne. :) I've always loved his music and thought Oz was a great name for a python. :gj:

    Re: Behind the Name
Only a couple of our snakes have names from anything significant.

Peter (spider)- After spiderman. We named him peter because he has a bit of a wobble and not quite worthy of being named Spiderman. :P
Mr. Spacely (Lesser)- The breeder we purchased him from was named Sprocket.

    The other names are:

Sybil (50% het albino)- Just thought the name was cute
Sababa (50% het pied)- Means "GREAT"
Aphea (50% het albino)- a Greek god (not sure which one)
Canela (cinnamon)- Spanish word for Cinnamon
Kaa (Normal)- Snake from Jungle book
    Jafar (het Albino)- Aladdin Character
    Sultan (het pied)- Aladdin Character
    Lenard (pastel)-Seemed to suit him
April, May, June (Normals)-After the months of the year
Cosmo, Margarita, Amaretto (Normals)-after the drinks
Zekely (Normal) -the previous owners named her Zeke. They thought she was a male
Ava and Gwen (normals)-Just sounded Cute at the time.

    Re: Behind the Name
Well I only have one bp her name is Nazgul- The flying creatures the Ring Wraths fly around on in The Lord of the Rings. They have a snake like face and I'm a giant LOR fan so it fit!

    My kitties are:
Allah: The god in the Koran
Prometheus: He is the greek god that gave fire to man and was punished by zues by being strapped to a rock to have a little bit of his liver eaten each day by an eagle just to grow back to be eaten the next day for eternity.
Kali Ma: She is the Hindu Goddess of destruction and that pretty much fits her personality. She's a full blown Ninja Kitty.

    My puppy is:
Minerva: She is the greek goddess of war and the creator of music.

I try to keep a god's theme with my animal names. :)
