Re: Where to buy a scale?
I'm Canadian, and got mine at Canadian tire on special for $11.99. I should have picked up a few more and sent them down there to you guys. hahaha
Re: Where to buy a scale?
I got mine on ebay for $10, shipped.
Re: Where to buy a scale?
Gooood question! I was about to ask, it was supposed to be my next purchase because my female normal's eating hiatus is starting to worry me. She hasn't eaten since 4/24, and laid eggs when she belonged to her original owner 4/30. Getting skiiinny.
What brand should I be searching on ebay?
Re: Where to buy a scale?
I stand corrected, it was 12 dollars:

Hope the link works.
I did a quick search on the sellers store and couldn't find it for that price. But do a search on ebay and I am sure you will find something.

I've always understood the 10-15% guideline to be for young, growing snakes. I think once they stop the rapid growth, you stop increasing their prey size, even though the snake continues growing slowly. But there is no hard fast rule; obviously animals that are using up lots of energy breeding need more food than pets of the same size.
EDIT: Forgot to reply to the original question. I got my scale from Walmart online, using their free shipping "site to store" option. I had previously bought one that was in stock at the local Walmart, but its tare function did not work properly. Item weighed by itself: 45g. Item weighed in bowl after zeroing with tare: 15g. NOT an acceptable margin of error. So whatever scale you get, look out for problems like that.
Re: Where to buy a scale?
This is the one I use. Im sure there are cheaper ones out there. Ive had this one for 2 or 3 years now. The cheap food scale from walmart. They work good the only thing is I think they only go up to about 2500g or so. If your going to use if for adult snakes then you might want to go with something a bit bigger.

100g would be a small rat. At least from where I buy my feeders. I got a "small" today and it was 125g. But I will say it was probably a little larger than small and could of been with the mediums.
I got my scale at Bed Bath and Beyond. It was about $30-40 I believe. Goes up to 5000g.
Edit- Here is my scale, was $50
