Pythons are cool. But so are colubrids, and there are lots more small, inexpensive colubrids IMO - have you considered looking into them?

The other thing, is what defines "good pet"? That's different for everyone... active snake, or snake that hides a lot... handleable, or nice display animal... color preferences... etc. Try to be more specific.

I DO NOT recommend a Blood.

You seem young and this seems to be an effort to find your FIRST snake. A Blood would not make a good first snake.

    Look into Corn snakes.

Now on the smaller side you have your spotteds, and childrens only getting 2-3ft i believe other then that im not too sure. There are tones of snakes but I cannot think of any of the popular pythons. I guess you could go for an irian jaya carpet python they are nice snakes I think they stay in your size range.

If you really have this much experiance with snakes I find it odd that you ask this kinda question.
    Also, cut the other threads.

but to answer your question I think you should look into rainbow boas (not a python I know)

i just like learning about new species that's all. the rainbow boas are very nice but i just don't like the high humidity requirements and i just don't like boas overall. ive always been a python guy and always will be. i think it has something to do with the look of the pythons face compared to the boas, do you know what i mean?

I agree on the rainbows head but I think a boa constrictors (and the many morphs) head is pretty awesome.

I personally love carpet pythons as far as pythons go.

Yeah, I actually know exactly what you mean

I think chondros have the coolest python heads.

The coolest boa head would definitely be a Madagascan tree boa, in my book.

Sorry if im getting too off-topic
