Sore Throat Remedies

Neti pot all the way! Mmmm.... :)

I know my wife likes her the neti pot as well, clean them sinuses out, clear up that post-nasal drip and the sore throat goes away. She says that it's also about the only thing that helps with her sinus headaches. Well, that and benadryl, but then she's a zombie for the rest of the day.

Like others, I just hit a shot of vodka sometime durring the day. It nukes all the germs in your throat. For just general feel better advice, grab some herbal tea and ad a spoonful of spun honey, put a towel over your head and lean over the tea so that the towel encloses your head and the mug. Breath deep. Its a temporary solution, but I swear by it. After you've cleared a little and the mug is no longer all that hot. CONSUME. You'll feel like a million bucks for a while.

gargle with a tablespoon of hot sauce. If you are a wimp, you can drink milk after to cool. I prefer to just swallow the hot sauce. I can testify that it takes the pain away immediately and for me, at least, it's gone for good. Lots of healing powers in peppers.

I am just now recovering from a SERIOUS bout of tonsilitis. Like, so bad that it hurt so much I could not even swallow my own spit, and pills would get stuck in my throat and take like 10 minutes to make their way to my stomach. it got to the point where I was so desperate, I literally would do ANYTHING to relieve SOME pain. a few days ago, all I could do was lay on my back, and cry, and spit into a cup. I couldn't even turn my neck. I had a fever, aches, swollen glands, the doctor looked at my throat and literally almost dropped the light thingy. She put me on antibiotics, steroids, and a decongestant. I was taking the MAXIMUM amount of pain releivers possible each day (down the to exact hour) along with using chlorasceptic sprays, which did absolutely nothing, attempted to use cepacol cough drops which numbed everything in my mouth except for my throat, and I mean so numb I was drooling... and I was also gargling saltwater which in my opinion was a waste of time and salt. Gargling really cold water with crushed ice in it seemed better. I could not find anything to ease the pain, it was horrible agony like I had never been through before and I certainly don't EVER want to deal with it again. Now my throat still hurts but at least i can swallow... and I am stuck with this horrible itchy cough that wakes me up every 20 minutes due to my throat healing.

Do you like Garlic? I steep a clove or two of garlic in warm water, and drink it, or gargle it. That really helps. Also cayanne pepper mixed in water *gargle* as well as apple cider vinegar gargle.

Use hot water from the sink as hot as you can stand. Put in a couple spoonfuls of peroxyde and a spoon full of sea salt. Gargle and spit till its gone. Do not swallow.

I use to get strep throat all the time. The stuff that really help ease the pain for me was: Ice cold milk, tea, or an extra large Cherry Icy from Circle K. ;)

I knew a girl when I was little whos mom would make her drink straight lemon juice. either fresh or the kind in the bottle is up to you. I have never tried it but they swore by this. Always seemed like it would burn alot.

Okay it may sound gross but it works like a charm. AND if your sick like me.... you'll actually like the taste:D

Heat a mug of water in the microwave. Then add 1 tbs. Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 tbs. Honey. Drink and hopefully enjoy;)
