IF one hide, hot or cold side?

none of my adults have a hide they didnt use them really anyway.

my tub snakes get 1 hide; a small vanness kitty litter pan with a hole cut/soldered out of the side. i place it over the hot side, but like others have said, the snake will push it around until they get the right temperature. the beauty of the litter pans is they are big enough to have space for the snake on both the hot and the cold side.
