The poor things are usually pretty stressed out too because the enclosures at the stores aren't possible to set up cool/hot spots in and the humidity was almost impossible to control. Also 80 bucks is just too much for a normal imo.

    i agree way to much

    Re: Hi
My first ball python was from a petstore. He was pretty healthy, but definitly a little stressed. He was only a few months old and was in a 10 gallon tank by himself with no hides or water dish. I found it kind of strange, especially since it was a petstore that specializes in reptiles. Most of the other snakes had some sort of hide and/or water dish and had multiple animals in one tank.

One month later, we had snake mites. I was really confused at the beginning not realizing the life cycle of mites, I could not figure out how I got them. This was the only snake I handled at the store or anywhere else. I now figure that the snake had to have had mites before I purchased him. The people at the pet store probably treated the snake and then put him in that tank by himself. I really wish someone at the store would have told me what was going on. Oh, and it was also a little over priced being $200 for a male pastel.

After being all said and done, I don't regret purchasing him, he needed to get out of there, and I gave him a good home. Plus it was a good experience in some ways. I now know a tremendous amount of information on mites, and always know to quaratine new snakes.
