    Re: Bad Feeding Day
I fed live for a long time and had several incidents like that happen over the years. They were always small wounds that healed very fast and no harm was done. But these days I only feed f/t or p/k. It took a lot of patience and work to get my picky female BP to except p/k prey, but it is really worth it, IMO. I don't like risking my snake's health, especially when feeding larger rats which can do a lot of damage. Also if you only have a few snakes its not a bad idea to feed in a separate container, that's how I feed all my snakes and it works well for me. Hope this helps.

Plus stunned rodents are much more likely to be aggressive if or when they regain lucidity. You could actually be endangering your snake more by doing so.

All that aside, I completely agree with frankykeno. We often forget what they are designed for in the wild. As long as you are responsible about live feeding it is a perfectly viable option. Accidents can and most probably will happen if you feed live on a regular basis, but as long as you are there to supervise, most bites (unless they get the eye or some other extremely sensitive part) are nothing to worry about :) Although it doesn't hurt to put some antibiotic ointment on any and all bites and monitor them just to be sure ;)
