    Re: Confused about everyones Mites
We just got two sub adult female pastels and one male albino. I checked the snakes for 1/2 an hour looking for problems including mites.I didn't see one until about twenty min. after the guy left. It was still a good deal 525.00 total.I think it is under control now!.

    Re: Confused about everyones Mites
Depends on the type of mites.

For snake mites it all comes down to your snake being in contact (direct or indirect) or proximity to a mite infested snake.

Having PAM is always a good idea, my first snake had mites (my only pet store acquisition) never had a problem since then again it might be because I am a bit ocd about them.

I always have a can of PAM handy and any new addition get treated while in quarantine (just in case), I also treat my collection each time I go to a show (heck sometimes I even feel like spraying myself with PAM when I go to a show ;))

Other type of mites, whether from rodents or substrate are host specific.

When it comes to my rodent colony I also treat new addition for mites while in quarentine.

Like I said I am ocd when it comes to mites whether it comes to my snakes or rodent colony.

Well my new Enchi male arrives tomorrow and I hope he doesn't come with any mites. He shouldn't though, I purchased him from clock work reptiles. Thanks for the answers. Mitch
