Re: So...uhhhh
some, well matured in years and size, will go off feed until you put a male in with them. keep in mind that in the wild, when they are ready, a male will always be found. and if the female isnt "into" so to speak, they will reject the male's efforts. i would say, she is one of those big females that is ready to breed. ive had female retic go off feed for just over 10 months, until finally i threw a male in, they did their deed she laid like 25 eggs and went right back on feed. just some food for thought

Interesting...any way around this without having to breed?

Re: So...uhhhh
most of the time, they will come out of the breeding "mode" and resume feeding. however, i have had a couple stubborn ones that, like i said, went several months, even just shy of a year off feed until i finally threw them a male. keep in mind, just because you get a male for her, doesnt mean that they will mate. the male may not be interested, the female may lose interest. but most of the time, at least if you put a sexually mature male, it will how should i put this, curb her mating appetite and should hopefully go back on feed. so, its been this long, i would probably go out and get or borrow a 7 or 8 foot at least year and half old male put them together for a few day. just make sure the sex of each are 100% correct. you dont even wanna chance getting two males together when they are of breeding age/size and in breeding mode. so make sure they are both sexed correctly, put them in for a few days. observe their behavior when you can (but dont hover over them and stress them out). then in a few days get them apart wait a few days and offer food (smaller prey item than normal just to get her back in the swing of things so to speak. again, that has worked for me, of course you run the risk, obviously, of her becoming gravid. if that is not an option for you at all. i would say, wait it out and hopefully when she is ready she will eat. as long as she is active and isnt losing weight and looks overall healthy, she should be fine, either way you go. just remember, if you choose the getting a male route, make sure he comes from a reliable source and is also healthy and mite free
