You should have waited for him to have his first shed. Until then, they are still absorbing yolk and do not need to eat. I hope he's not in anything bigger than a 10 gallon. A 6qt tub would be best, and on moist paper towels UNTIL he sheds.

Doesn't sound like you have experience starting Ball Pythons straight out of the egg... Wasn't a wise decision to buy one that hasn't even had its first shed without at least being knowledgable on what their husbandry is and how you need to go about feeding.

Babies straight out of the egg can easily go 6-8 weeks before they are really needing a meal. A week is nothing... The snake should have been allowed to shed, then given a week to rest and settle in, THEN fed. Generally mouse hoppers are good for a first meal because of the movement.

Who said anywhere that this was a newborn right out of the egg. Because someone posted that it 'LOOKS' like a brand new baby doesnt necessarily mean that it is one. Just think first before you question someones knowledge.:gj:

First off it has had its first shed thats why some of it is clearly still stuck to a portion of his body. Second I am fully aware of proper husbandry for a BP of any age. Third you say mouse hoppers are good because of the movement? the pinky i fed was frozen thawed soooooo...?
But yea thanks for your concern but I feel you came at me a little to strong.

There is a big difference in appearance between a hatchling pre-shed and one that has already shed. :gj:
