Re: New Pastel - Tank Heat/Humidity Setup
Ouch. I just noticed that he had moved over to the cool side, so I moved the thermometer probe on the hot side down to the glass, and it went up from 85° to 110°! I turned it down, but that seems like a pretty big difference, even with about an inch of substrate on top of it The cool side is still low 70s. Hope I didn't hurt him.

Your thermometer probe should always be as close to the heat source as possible while still being in the tank. This way you can measure the absolute hottest spot your snake can come in contact with.

I have a picture tutorial I can PM on foil treating a screen top for good humidity control in tanks. :) Just let me know and I'll send you a copy.

Have you ever posted it on the forum? It could make a great sticky and more people could benefit from it! :)

One thing That helped me out a lot was trashing the screen cover. I went to the local lumber yard, and got plexi glass cut to fit. I then made the homemade humidifier. I just got my first pastel about 3 weeks ago. Now the ambient temps and humidity stay perfect. She feeds like a champ too. I hope this helps.

:) Probably not, since when I posted my Tank setup Tips at request it was largely ignored/not seen.
But I can post the tutorial if you like. It's a bit large with the pictures, which is why I usually kept it to PM. :)
