Do you let them soak or not??

LOL, it's no problem, I figured you were talking about greens.

Yea denial greens are so massive that they stay in the water pretty much all the time, unless it really gets hot then they'll go on land to go hide or something, but they are slow on land and really quick in the water for their massive size. Yellows on the other hand don't get big or massive in weight like the green can get that's why we never see our yellows in the water, I have seen some yellows that like water more, but it's when they start getting a bit up on the weight scale.

I don't keep anaconda's... but.... If you are keeping a species of snake that is even partially aquatic... why the heck would you deny it the right to soak/swim?!?!

Greens like it, not all yellows do.

I've had both yellows & Greens (more greens, large greens) into rescue. I've given my yellows very large enclosures with filtered water "holes" (sweater boxes with filters etc).
My Greens had extremely Xlarge enclosures with very large filtered pools. Messy to clean but I will say the Greens I've observed do tend to stay in the water much longer then the yellows.
I'm not an expert by any means, just experience with the rescued guys.

He had that rubbermaid in every cage I put him in so he had access to water at all times! And we was the only snake I had that got a bath every week lol he would spend all day in the tub if you let him.

Well a healthy ball python would rarely soak...it will soak if the humidity is too low, the hot spot is too hot, or is trying to drown mites...but besides that ball pythons dont need a big bowl to soak in only something that can provide enough water for them....Ball pythons do swim in the wild but since most of the snakes are captive-bred they have little concern of swimming...But they would enjoy swimming once in a while...

I wasn't aware a ball python was a green. Not to mention this is under the anaconda section... Not trying to be rude or anything.

Had a green many years ago, provided her a "Kiddie Pool" for soaking that I cleaned regularly or when needed. She had a large enclosure and spent probably 75% of her time in the pool. Kids would bring me trout that they caught to come in and see the herps. She ate them, along with the gator, Nile & water monitors.

The yellow I currently have does soak and is provided the space to, and she's in there maybe 40% of the time.

I agree that if you own an aquatic/semi-aquatic animal, if you don't provide it with what it likes, you're an idiot. :rolleye2:

+1. Greens use the water to support the weight and Yellows do sometimes aswell, just not nearly as much. If somebody owns an anaconda and doesn't provide water for it to soak in all the time, they shouldn't have theirs.

I understand having an adult and unable to soak it but if its a baby sub adult it should be soaked.
