Humidity: Repti Fogger OR Waterfall? Any Good?

Also, for that, make sure the towels are changed frequently... wet warm towels are a breeding ground for all sorts of bacteria.. You don't want to completely cut off their circulation either.

I've bought that fogger and multiple others, they are cheaply made and crappy design, not to mention, I got much better results spending 3$ on a spray bottle and spraying it everyday.

if you saw the video and they guys setup im sure he is tracking humidity on a $1000 snake, and you can see it working. and it foggs really well. exactly what its advertised to do.

that would work for sure. i think the reti-fogger has settings so you dont have to have it on full blast as well.

i agree totally, this is why i switch out the towels on a 2 day cycle to the laundry.


on a side note, i think there are automated misting systems out there too.

Automated misting systems are just like misting with a bottle, but much more expensive. I'm willing to do the manual labor. :]

With the foggers, they would 'fog' like they we're supposed to, but it didn't effect my humidity nearly enough to be worth it, even on full blast.

Maybe I had the cheaper versions, but I never went over $100. If theres something more expensive then that, then I'm sure it's more likely to work better.

Thanks for all the advice. I might give the fogger a try, but may just continue misting and using the wet towel method. It's just my first shedding experience so I guess I'm overreacting :rolleye2: Plus she's been in her hide for 2 days straight! I miss my Kumasi :tears:

Have fun with that. Mine didn't come out for a week!!! I purposely checked on her though, just to make sure everything was good :) Not because i thought it was bad, but I wanted to see her.

I was actually checking reviews on the foggers to see what others thought and check the longevity of them, but I did it in reverse.. I already bought one!

Ironically, this forums mentioned doing what I'm doing - I have a little mechanical timer that lets you set which hours are "on" or "off" power outputs. During the day with full heat on, I have it run nearly non stop at it's lowest setting, which is a good balance for 95 on one side and 80 on the other, and nearly perfect 45-55 humidity. Between the timer & the rheostat type knob thing, I can fine tune it pretty well.

Only annoyance: you gotta clean it every few days, lest you get a mildew smell. Probably a no brainer, but that ~15 minutes of cleaning probably equates to as much effort as just spraying or a towel. Food for thought. I can perfectly tune in the environment, though. I think it was ~$45 online, and if I crank it up to full (my wife did..) you cant even see into the terrarium. So I dont know what model the guy above had, but i could drown my snake with ours!

edit: yes i know this was an old post. but if anybody else is like me and googling for their snake, they may hit this post just like i did.

I use a peice of Plexiglass over my tanks with a few holes drilled into it for ventilation works GREAT and was about $15 at homedepot but the peice I purchased covered 3 tanks:)

Was wondering if this thing works good for controling the humidity as well. Was thinking about buying it but i want to see what others think first.

Not only does it help humidity it helps with air flow as well. Right now i use the damp towel over my screen top to help with humidity as well as misting the cage daily.

Hi I just got a zoo med repi fogger as a gift. A snake friend (who got it for me) uses it for his BP and said it was great. I have set mine up and found it creates a great little fog layer and raise humidity well. I did have some concerns.
1. Does it/can it harm the ball python in any way with respiratory problems or anything
2. Many of u mentioned that you have to turn it on and off and I was wondering why that was? What if you just kept it on lower setting?

i would love any suggestions or comments u can give. Thanks guys :)

.i tried a waterfall and it worked great to boost my humidity but one day found my snake laying on top of it and water running all over the substrate so immediatly it was removed.....
