If it passes, it won't matter where you live ... no one anywhere in the US will be able to breed a boa or ball python ever again. S373 won't even be needed anymore. HR669 is a much more powerful bill!

This is a lot like gun control laws in some states. Some group will try to pass a law with vague enough wording that any ban that comes to mind can be patched in. Nothing is as vague as a list of banned animals that isn't even in the bill, pass a bill ban everything later.

the loophole wont work in my opinion, i think the idea is widespread in the wild ie... norway and black rats.

You know what i think? I think that this will probably not pass. ( but i STILL did my part and made my voice known) But i DO think that places with exotics issues are going to become MUCH MUCH stricter in the years to come...

I think the people of those problem areas, NEED to step up and start making a difference in their own state. Talk to your local politicians and start becoming proactive about the issues you have in your state. start helping them find ways to deal with the problem/s....

Im not saying, dedicate every available second, or day you have off, but.... at the same time, unless something IS done, its just going to get worse, and id rather see people trying to curb the problem now, getting to keep their animals as responsible keepers and making ALL herpers look good because of the help they are offering in whatever way possible, than an outright ban that hurts EVERYBODY.

I think it's fairly safe to say that a lot of these injurious species laws do stem from the problem area's like Florida. But what I don't understand is why don't they keep the money that it costs to support HR 669, and use it for the USF&W to hire more employee's to, for example, go out and 'hunt' the "killer Burms" in the everglades? We (the U.S.) already to huge hunts to NATIVE species, which include rattlesnake round-ups. At it's heart, I don't think that this bill is completely bad. They just want to protect our native animals. But there are much more effective and responsible ways to go about it. Banning all non native species is just a cop out. I understand that USF&W has very little man power to begin with, but have they even thought of what this bill would do to them if it's passed? how do they even think that they're going to enforce this? USDA's already busy as hell too. Most places only get inspected once a year by USDA (even though it could be multiple times a year unannounced) because they don't have enough man power. This whole thing is just crazy to me, but I've passed this along to all of the Vet's that I know and go to school with because this will also have a huge impact on them as well, and i figured a letter from a DVM would be seen as more 'valuable' to public officials.
