Male or Female?

Sounds like the snake has retained shed due to low humidity (explains the dented eye caps). Respiratory infection (bubbles and heavy breathing). Belly burns or possibly scale rot.

This isn't a lost cause though, the snake could be saved but it will take many trips to the vet and quite a bit of cash. Sounds like you have a good herp vet that you could go to if you decide to take the snake in.

Sounds like an RI some stuck eye caps an unfinished shed and some heat rock burns to me. I would love to get my hands on the P/O, these are the people that cause a bad image for good reptile owners :taz:

Rethink the glass enclosure, I have 2, they are alot more work for a BP unless you spend the $$ to get the electronics that do it for you. Look into the Visions or the Repti-Racks or Boaphiles, they are much easier to maintain. Just my :2cent:

Where would I find an enclosure such as these?

Just a quick update. The owner of the pet shop called this morning. The python I went to look at yesterday afternoon was found in his aqaurium this morning dead. It really pains me to see an animal neglected like this to the point where it can no longer survive. The one consolation I have is that my hunches were right. That snake was too far gone to be helped. :tears:

Anyways, I'm heading out today to check on another B/P that someone wants to re-home. I will keep everyone posted on what I find with that one this afternoon.

I suggest you may want to consider taking a ball python from a breeder.. for your first snake, you want a healthy well-eating snake that isn't too hard to work with. Not a baby or a mistreated animal.

Talk to some breeders on here, shipping is about 50$ but the snake itself will be no more than 40-60 dollars as a normal.
You could always find a local breeder as well. :]
