I know the feeling the local pet store guy in a bind and wants al lthe rats I can get him cause htey place he usely gets them is more less between littlers plfows and fell behind on orders. I laught and told him I was feeding live rodents because they were breeding too fast.

By the way, these are adult mice...so it REALLY shouldn't be too hard....

sexing rats is easy work.
Females spacing from the anus to the urethra is very close together as the males are farther apart to give space for the jingle bells

I agree. I have had no problems sexing my rats once weaned off the moms. As far as the pet store rats, my local Petco only sells females. They said they do not carry males. I found a local breeder and picked up two nice boys who have become my studs so to speak. They have not let me down yet and have produced litters of 8-12 pups with the females I bred them to.

I can sex them as soon as they start getting hair. I don't know how on earth she couldn't tell the difference in adults!!!! One has big nasty "things" dragging behind them and the other doesn't :D

I went to the Pet Store to pic up two large females a little while back. It was the 3rd time I'd been there that month and the same girl gave me the rats each time. I think she knew they were for breeding/feeding. I got to the check out counter and a lady was behind me and asked what I had in the box as she started grabbing it and trying to look. In the past I had an experience at the pet store when my dad was buying rats for feeding and a store worker asked what they were for and he said, "To feed a snake." And they got all pissed. So I learned from that and when she asked I just said they were for my cousin. I don't have a cousin within 500 miles of me. Haha... Pet store Suckers.
