How Do You Feed In A Seperate Enclosure? need help please

I take them out more often to be handled than to be fed. Once they are in their tub, they're going after whatever it is that comes in there, the rat, my hand, whatever. They associate being taken out of their cage as being taken out of their cage, and they associate they're feeding tubs (which is all I use their tubs for) with eating.
That's what works for mw and my snakes, I'm not trying to push that on anyone else, or start an argument.

If the snake is striking everytime Jamie goes into the cage because of a feeding response then separating while feeding should help. The snake will become accustomed to being pulled out of the tank (to play, hang out, get fed etc.) but it'll then know that when it is in its feeding tub, then it's eating.
If you're going to have the snake sit in the cage and never come out, then it's fine to feed in in the cage. If you're wanting the snake to be comfortable interacting with you then it might be a good idea to feed in a separate container.

i have yet to feed any of my snakes anywhere other than the place that they call home, and have yet to see any of them become agressive.

think of it this way you eat at your house but dont think its the pizza man everytime someone knocks on the door, but when you go to outback you know your gettin a steak.

so wouldnt they be more relaxed at home compared to a place where they know their where they are gonna eat?

I feed all 13 snakes in their enclosures. No 'association' issues. To be honest, I don't think ball pythons (or any snakes for that matter) have the mental capacity and long term memory to associate as much as you are giving them credit for.

If you prescent, they smell the food and will strike anything that moves.
If you don't, and assuming they are non-aggressive normally, then they won't bite you unless you have smell on your hand.

There is no such thing as 'cage aggression'. In my eyes, your putting the snake (and yourself) in more danger by moving it. Most cases of bites from non aggressive snakes are from moving the snake when it smells food in the room or looking for more afterwards.
You also risk the snake regurgitating it's prey, which is incredibly hard on the esophagus and digestive system of the animal, which may condone a vet visit and a feeding break.

The only reason snakes would ever really know that they are going to eat is the scent of the prey in the room. I don't think they are capable of 3/4 part classic association with anything other than their instinctual natural association to the smell of prey.

HI, I have 2 ball pythons and 2 boas, 3 of them eat live. They dont always eat the same day, but i feed them one at the time like this : 1- I take my snake out of it`s enclosure and put it directly in the tupperware ( if I feed two for exemple I put each one in it`s own tupperware, one after an other ( the tupperware are big tall and blue ). 2- I take the mouse and blow the scent in the tupperware ( then my snake react by moving it`s head so i know she`s ready ) and then I put the mouse in the tupperware. 3- I watch the ( kill ) to be sure the mouse dont bite the snake ( I have one little hook I can use if the mouse try to bite).
4-when it`s dead I past to the next snake and always watch entil the mouse is dead.
5- when the second mouse is dead I change the water and clean. ( i`m always in the room when they eat ) 5 min after they eat I take them and return them in there enclosures. For sefety I never live them alone and always always wash my hand before and after they eat. this technic works very well with me , never a probleme so far. and my snakes are all very tame never strike for all the time I have them. so I really hope this help you deside what best for u and your snakes

for reference my 2 balls are 8 months and 1 male boa 2 years old and my newbi female boa 1 month.

Your boa won't be able to feed in a separate enclosure as an adult.. that will be severely dangerous.. at least in my opinion a waste of a lot of time too.

Don't worry, I wasn't disagreeing with you. ;)

that i know ( for the boa ) later when they are in there big enclosure they will be feeding in them and my 2 year old one eat dead , but later i will still always watch and be with them and i have lots of time to take care of them and i like to spend lots of time with them

This is what I do and it's worked for me, maybe it will help you out.

The day of feeding, I thaw out the mouse in a totally different room(i dont have to prescent the room), then once everything is thawed out, and been put in water and it's warm, i'll take my snakes out their normal enclosure put them in a seperate enclosure and then i'll bring the food in, let them eat, once everything is gone, I wait a few additional minutes for them to situate, then I transfer them back into their original tank.

On the tanks they feed in, they have paper towels as substrate. I prefer to feed my snakes in a seperate enclsoure because I find it works best for me, but what works best for me, may not work best for you, I would atleast try it though.
