Incubators

Thanks everyone for the help and especially showing me the larger incubators. Can you post a pic of your big apple incubator? How many clutches can it hold? I went to their website but they had pics of the old egg boxes so i wanted to see it set up with the tubs. thanks again

Our first year and last year we used Georgia Quail Farm 1250 reptile incubators with a ranco back up and a clear acrilic door. They are great and a decent price. They only hold up to 9 clutches though. We should have more than that so this year we are trading them and we turned our 1/2 bath into an incubator.

This paticular incubator is a GQF 1250R that big apple herps added their own thermostat system to.

Heres my incubator. I paid $35 for the cooler(its a year and a half old and it started malfunctioning already lol) With 3' of 11" flexwatt along the back, and an on/off tstat(soon to be replaced with a proportional) Keeps temps pretty steady.

Still trying to figure out how to put pics directly into new threads and replies, can anyone give me a hand with this?

Never used it and never will, seems a bit too pricy in my opinion especially for something that small.

This is very similar to my set-up but I also cut windows out on the top. I can fit anywhere from 6+ clutches in it, depending on the size of each clutch and the container it will need.

All you really need is an insulated box with a thermo-regulated heater and a fan inside...

Whether you spend big bucks on a nice, wonderful, professionalistic-looking one or you build your own and get mistakenly arrested for running a portable meth lab, is up to you!

I picked up a free 4 cubic ft.mini fridge, 2 feet of flexwatt, a t-stat and and bingo, easy cheap and holds excellent temp.
Will be doing side by side matching mini fridges this year :P

Sounds good- make sure you install a mini fan or something to circulate the air, though- you'd be surprised what kind of gradient you can achieve even in an insulated container. One of our fans went out once and the eggs near the top all hatched out early since they were around 2-3 degrees hotter than the bottom ones!
