Ok, I know NOTHING when it comes to Chondros so I have to ask.... why do we hope that black scales show up? (sorry if this is a stupid question, but dang if I just have to ask anyway :oops: )

It's from a mite phase pairing. The parents had black dots, so he's hoping for the mite/black to show up on this guy.

Ahhhh! Thank you for explaining. So since both parents had the black dots, then what is the percent chance of it showing up in the offsping. (since obviously it's not 100% if you your hoping and not sure)

The odds are good. Many people prefer red over yellow babies in high end chondros, because they believe the red is due to more pigment which should yield a higher chance of getting a baby like the adults. However, there have been some very amazing yellow babies! In some clutches you will have AMAZING babies, and some of the siblings will be nothing special (besides as special as a green tree is :D )I don't think I can relate it to any other snake. Maybe Brandon will chime in and help clear up my mess of run on.

Yes and no. In blue and melanistic bloodlines people tend to choose red babies because up til now, I think 99% of blue and melanistic animals have been red babies. With most HY animals, babies are more often yellow. Some bloodlines are known for their yellow neos and are often 2x the amount of reds. It all boils down to genetics.
