    Sorry to hear that, :(

You shouldn't get fired for being the victim of crime - I would ask to raise the matter with your boss and his superior if you can.

I'd also be having a few choice words with the thieving little toe-rag from the deli.

That sucks. I would not hold you at fault. However, in this economy, people are lookin for reasons to fire .. and if you give them anything, it's almost sure that you will be out.

It sucks, but I am dealing with that myself. It was really icy this morning, and it was the kind that would not scrape off. I had to start my car and wait for it to defrost, and I called my boss to let him know. When I got in there was an angry email telling the dept that the president of the company was back there looking around before we all got in.

The entire dept showed up late, and when the layoffs happen ... it will be an issue.

I agree with the concensus. You were robbed, and they want to fire you? Wtf...

I really don't even know what to say to this.

That's bogus! Even if you don't want to work there again, I still think you should let them know what really happened...

No offense to you or anyone else, but I have to go against the consensus here and side with management. Issues like this are not taken lightly. The store gets fined for selling products like alcohol and tobacco to minors. It is necessary for stores like that to have automatic termination policies for issues like this. Now, unfortunately for you, you were stuck in a situation where it appeared that you may have bought alcohol for minors. Even though there is no solid proof that you did, there is still the appearance you may have conspired with them.

It is unfortunate that you got victimized twice here and hopefully you are able to find another job soon.

I agree that it sucks that you lost your job over the incident. However, by purchasing the alcohol you took possession and responsibility for it.
