This is true but you can stop a hole from being a hole in the first place by expanding it to the nearest edge of the lid. Just cut out the part between the hole and the rim to make it completely benign. If the snake weaves back and forth through it, instead of getting stuck, he'll just knock the lid off.

if he were to ever get stuck that lid would fall right off and im sure my self or my girlfriend would find hi relatively quick. also that hole is rather large it should be good for at least a year to come i would say. i bought it big in anticipation of growth.

I thought about getting a bigger one later and use it for one of my BPs. How well does the heat penetrate? How does the temp inside the hide compare to the substrate surface?
I like the enclosure. How big is it?
inside the hide since its a little bit humid about 70% solid. and by the time the UTH soaks through the surface temp in there is about 96*F he really seems to enjoy that temp in there so i have kept it that way. also i find if he is in his hide getting nice and toasty his feeding response is off the wall fast when i drop in a feeder. . i know its because of the temps.
outside the hide on the hot side its 90*f right on. and the cold side with the waterfall is 80*F i don't really need the heat lamp any more now that i have switched to aspen it allows more of the UTH through on both sides and since i have them regulated now ive got this cage running 100% to my satisfaction. now if i remove the Hide from the aspen the underside of the Hide is about 100*F according to my IR temp gun, but if i then flip it and take a reading of the inside temp its only 94*F so it doesn't soak all the way throung. its thick. hods the head and doesn't burn my buddy.
