I'm pretty much going cold turkey. I don't want to pay for nicotene gum and still be addicted to nicotene.
I was at about a pack a day, and I've been smoking since I was 12 so about 10 years.
Today I alotted myself 7 cigarettes. I had 1 before work, one at 2 pm, 4 pm, 6 and 8. I've got 2 left. 1 for 10pm and 1 at 12.
Tomorrow, 7 again. Saturday 5 cigarettes. I can't decide on 5 again Sunday or 3 Sunday. Either way, I will no longer be smoking as of Monday.
My days off from work are Monday & Tuesday and I figure the first 2 days of NO smokes will be the worst. I don't want to kill any customers.
I'm doing well so far in that I haven't cheated, but damn I'm nic fitting like crazy already!!! I feel bipolar as hell!
I don't know what the point of my posting this is... I guess just venting about how badly I need a cigarette. lol
Wish me luck, share your stories, etc.
Thanks
I am right there with ya! Sat. 2/7/2009 was my 1st day as a Non-Smoker! The 1st 3 days really sucked but now I am doin' pretty good, just a little anxious like I don't have enough to do...
The other good thing is I have been throwing $7 a day into a jar as a Snake/Fun savings instead of buying a pack a day.
Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!

Thats a good idea!

If you hate "fire safe" cigs then stop smoking period. You should try being a firefighter in my area. We have so many brush and grass fires that end up being right beside a road and guess what the main cause is?

Um.. I am? That was the whole point of the thread... ?
Thank you guys for all the encouragement. To be honest the $$ is the main reason I'm quitting. I know smoking is terrible for my health but meh.. We all have to die of something. I'm just really not willing to spend the $7 it's about to be. It sucks that I've been spending so much money for 10 years already.
Putting the 5 bucks into a jar every day is a great idea.
I did want to get back on my diet and lose some more weight before I made the plunge to stop smoking, but I think I'm doing well with the trident sugar free gum. I haven't been shoving food into my face like I thought I would. lol
I know not smoking will help me exercise easier so hopefully that will help when I get back on the diet really soon here.
As for update... I did great yesterday. I had my alotted 7 and didn't cheat. Yay for me. lol
I gave myself 7 again today... I'm doing odd hours this time, so I had one at 1pm and just had one at 3.
Thanks everyone.
Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!
I get foreign cigs from the Ukrain and China. No fire safe wrappers on them. :)

That's how I got money to pay for my boa. I put $5 a day in, then an additional dollar every time I had a craving.
Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!
I had gone 6 months with no cigarettes until I started working day shift after being laid off for over a month so I've had about 6 total this week. It's hard stuff but I'm sure you'll make it. My average is 1 a month :)
Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!
I heard lollipops are a good option...
Re: Quitting smoking... Ugh!
So I think I'm doing pretty well... I told myself 7/day for 2 days then 5/day for 2 days and then I'm done. Well my second day I only had 6! :O :D Day 3 I had 5 like planned and Today is day 4. It's 6 pm here and I've only had one so far. Though I am about to have my second, I think I'm only going to do 3 today :D
I'm doing better than I expected but it's really, really hard. I'm just so anxious and on edge. Tomorrow is day one of ZERO cigarettes.
