If you have the cash to purchase the visual then you would be way ahead of the game.
Multiple sires would work to your benefit in that respect as well because you would be sure that whatever the babies were, they are definitely het pieds.

I would say neither I would buy few het females (for whichever morph you like best) raise them up and than next year get a visual male or two.

If you wanted to, or you could make Bumbles poss het Pied and plug the project in later.. Or whatever.

Lots of possibilities.

It really depends on what your priorities are.

The more involved you get, the more complications there are in the project.

(Spider Het Pied)... If time is not an issue. Go fo it. If otherwise, go with visible morphs or look at your current collection and maybe you might find something else more interesting :). Good luck.

I'd say get a pied male and some hets...maybe even if you've got the extra cash some hets of some of the other morphs you want to work with. The first year you can make hets from your pied...and the next make pieds with the hets your first bought. Also by that time you could do the same with the other morph of hets you bought. Say you buy a pied and 2 het females, then 2 het axanthics, and 2 het genetic stripes. Then by the next year you could have the money for the 2 visuals of axanthic and/or stripe and already have females growing up for them.

That seems like a great project to me.
All normal looking offspring will be 100% het for pied and if you are willing to offer a guarantee of genetics and write up paperwork on it you should have no problems moving the extra babies out.
Then take the money from those babies and buy more visible morph males and their respective female hets.
Once you have a few female visibles of breeding size you can start crossing them into other dominant morphs and make some wicked combos in a relatively short period of time.

If I had that much money to blow and assuming I wanted to get recessive genes instead of co-dom or dom ones then I would take the second option, however I would use morphs not normals. This way you can produce Het Morphs offspring and then breed them with their parent to get a 50% chance of getting Homs as well as a 50% chance of getting a morph. This way you have the instant gratification of adding a Hom to your collection as well as the future gratification of having more unique looking snakes.

Either that or produce Double Hets and then get super cool double recessive snakes. But, really, I am dying to see a nice Pied Firefly, which would be as easy as getting a Pied male and breeding it to a Fire and a Lemon Pastel then breeding those offspring to one another. However this is assuming your desire is to work with the trait and not just produce that trait alone.
