I took a ride today after work in it, and I am impressed with it. It seems solid (well, surprisingly solid for the miles) and the engine sounded smooth, like you would expect a news car to sound like.

    Interior is clean.

I think that they paid a good price for it. I wasn't sure with just the fact they gave me, but seeing it gave me a bit more confidence that they made a good choice.

Even if it recently had a new engine, transmission, rear end, and front suspension put in? You cant just use mileage to determine the value of a vehicle. You have to consider many other details.

I have the same vehicle, except its gold instead of silver. I bought it in 2002, and its payed off. I am only keeping it because i dont want to deal with buying another car at the moment. However, if i could go back in time and get a different car i would. They are trouble, especially after 100k miles,-my humble opinion! Otherwise good luck to your sister, just make sure she is doing the required maintenance to keep it up.

My oldest car 99 Escort still only has 56,801 miles accounted for. It's been to the shop twice for brake work never had a problem, then again I don't drive the car like it's a cab.

my 96 Civic has 240,000 miles and its bluebook is well over $2,000. I wouldn't sell it for twice that since its been so reliable.
I think with any car you buy, its history, maintenance and condition trump mileage.
I research any model I buy just to make sure that it doesn't have a crappy resale and build issues. MSN autos has been my friend in the past with that with owner reviews and model details.
