i've handled several ATB's without any issues... nothing like a scrub or anything.

the big thing is that a lot of ATB's were wild caught for a long time... in that case they are terrible snakes! if you can get a nice CB juvie then i believe you can have a calm, hardy snake.

    Would you think so?
I'm talking to two Rainbow breeders about pairs, one pair is only $215 w/shipping, the other is $275 after shipping. The carpet breeder I am talking to has a pair for $290 w/shipping.

I am appealed visually to both types of snake, and as the prices are similar I guess it will come down to temperament and difficulty to maintain. I'll do my research but what will help me most in comments from you guys so any information will be greatly appreciated.

It seems like we're recommending carpets to everyone :)

Carpets are amazing snakes. BRB are nippy and always unpredictable (in my experience with them) Carpets and BRB need similar set ups except Brazil is cooler than Indonesia.

Why buy a pair? Just get one and see what you like. You can pick them up at shows for around 100 bucks.

All the listings had them posted as pairs.
I would love to go to a show to buy but I'm in Buffalo, NY and there aren't really any around here. The Hamburg show is about 6hrs away... the White Plains expo is even further :(
