I would use it in place of a normal flourescent. 12 hours on, 12 hours off. I think it may be a good alternative for viewing the bp's because I assume they can't see that spectrum. I hope someone on here can give us some first hand feedback.

I already ordered the white fluorescent light weeks ago b/c I think it's more natural light and brings out his colors better...
I don't expect to see issues with the snake, but when I do, I'm turning off the light.

You can provide some plants (fake or real) or other ways to provide shaded areas and break up the light...

Reptiles can see more spectrum's of light than we can so what you see and what the snake sees is not the same thing. Yes it is annoying to them -- if he's in his hide anyway then you don't need the light on to see him :P If you want to see him at night use a moonlight bulb.

LED lights are a good alternative. I have just finished a 3ft viv for a ball and have these installed in the roof of viv

Give off a very gentle light and can withstand temps of -10C to 60C (abt 157 F) Can plug upto 6 lights into one transformer which has an on/off switch attached , i have 3 to light mine. Not too expensive around £20 ($30) for the 3 light set.
