Is it okay to take your snake outside

Grass is almost the perfect back ground for any snake. Even green trees look cool in grass. Carpets look best IMO, the green really sets the black and yellow off. In short, you should be fine.

Is there an increased risk in mites if you let it slither through the grass outdoors???

No, snake mites are not native to the US or Europe, I think they originally come from India.

Is there a risk for them to burrow underground??

Only if you don't keep an eye on them and let them wander near pre-dug holes (rabbit holes etc). Ball pythons themselves don't dig.
