Re: Brand new owner as of today! Have one question.
So update.... as most of you said, she calmed down after the first day. I trimmed down the hides so they are really tight fitting, and threw in some crumpled newspaper to clutter up the 20g tank.
This morning I woke up and she was in her hide with her head sticking out the opening, but then tucked her head and stayed in the hot side hide the rest of the day. She then did her normal late night activity, and now is back in her hot hide.
I'm gonna try first time feeding on Tuesday, hopefully that goes well.
Thanks to all that replied and I appreciate the suggestions.

Happy that all is well :)
Re: Brand new owner as of today! Have one question.
Well today was the first feeding day. Our new baby normal ball has been settled in and I was pretty optimistic. We took out the hides and the crumpled newspapers and dropped the live hopper in and she chomped it once the mouse got brave enough to come to the other side of the tank. It was freaking awesome.
After eating..... I noticed that she was looking around for some more food. body still in the S shape and tongue flicking. The hopper mouse did leave a noticeable bulge (not to big though).
Does anyone here recommend feeding a 2 month old every 5 days rather then 7? I've seen that some do this.
Thanks
Re: Brand new owner as of today! Have one question.
plenty of people do this, I personally don't see anything wrong with it. I kept my snake on a 5 day feeding schedule until she hit the 250 gram mark(many people do it for longer).
Re: Brand new owner as of today! Have one question.
I have an 08 (290g) on a 5 day schedule and an 04 (500g) (cause he was underweight when I got him).

We had the 20G Long tank set up for a week before she was delivered (tank is covered and insulated on 3 sides and has reflectix insulation covering 3/4 of top screen). Were using UTH on both sides of the tank controlled by a Herpstat II Thermostat. A moonlight bulb about 18 inches above (tank) the warm side to help with ambient temps, I have two Acurite thermometers with probes held down by the (idenical) hides. Tempetures are 82 Cool, 93 warm, and ambient of 81. Humidity is holding steady at 55%.
Now for my question: She is currently laid out (not in a ball) along the bottom of the cage resting, but has spent a lot of time today climbing all over the cage looking for a way out and hasn't gone in her hides at all. Is this normal for a brand new snake to spend the first day(s) cruising the tank and not resting in it's hide?
I know I'm probably being way over concerned, but I want to make sure I'm doing everything I should be.
Thanks for any replies and I look forward to being a contibuting member of the forum.

For sure. My spider didn't settle down for about 3 days. I think it's totally normal.
