Since no one else wants to offer any advice here is the info you require.
Fill the empty void in the bottom with styrofoam, it is just a nuisance.
Once you have leveled out your floor you need something to create a sturdy bottom. I used leftover kitchen floor tiles to make myself a solid base for my flexwatt.
I then used 3' of 11" heat tape which was just enough to run the length of the floor and a few inches up each side.
You will then need a computer fan and place it on the heat tape in the center. You will need to make a stand of rit so it is not touching the tape itself. Also make sure the fan is blowing upwards, this will help heat the upper section quicker.
Herpstat probe outside the egg box and try to keep above the fan open so the air may travel freely.

Wow - why in the world didn't I think to fill that in?! I went out and bought some Styrofoam and filled in that annoying gap. To my luck, it fit perfectly to make it a flat bottom! I'm still surprised about that one.

I also picked up some egg crate. Cut it to size (fits perfect!) and was figuring, I could use a layer of that to create a sturdy bottom (its pretty darn sturdy now, too). Would it be safe to lay down a layer of aluminum tape, and then put the flexwatt on top of that? Will it get too hot for the Styrofoam?

I have two cpu fans, of which I'll only need one now, and ridiculous amount of 11" flexwatt (wanted some extra to use for other things).

Now to go make some pvc spacers! Pvc pipe is safe - right?

A refrigerator converted to a python egg hatchery.....most would get the willies.
A snake person though......let the fun out!

    I love it. Good stuff.

    Good luck with your project!
